Installed easy enough once you figure out the rivet, which plenty have stated. Worked like a charm until winter. The mini shock does not like the cold and it became almost impossible to open my tailgate without leaning heavily on it to slowly get down. Today the plastic end snapped. You’ll notice it still has 5 Stars because it’s a quality product that worked great until it got stupid cold. Most things fail when Alaska decides to hit 30 below zero. Edit:: sent an email with Amazon order number and a replacement was shipped out to me right away. Great, quick customer service. Hard to complain with a 3 year warranty and a company that stands by their product.

Just installed this unit on a 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT and it works great. Nice and slow when opening and easy to close. It makes it so that the tailgate does not just drop. I recommend this item in a heart beat for the not assisted vehicles without spring load tailgates.

This tailgate assist is a great product for my aging parents who struggled accessing their scooter in the truck bed. Arrived quickly, installed in 15 minutes, works as designed. Many thanks!

Good quality product. The bolt and nut sent to aide in nutsert install were not correctly sized so they did nothing for me. Went to auto parts store nearby and got what I needed. Overall, super easy install and works as intended!

Installed on a 2007 Silverado 1500. Very simple installation, less than 10 minutes. Works GREAT. Tailgate lowers in a smooth, controlled fluid motion. The upper bracket has 2 holes so that you can adjust the height. You will want to ensure that the weight of the tailgate is fully supported by the cable when in the down position, or you could damage the shock.

Didnt come with a flaring tool to expand rivet The bolt and nuts they said you could do it with did not even fit each other. Managed to get it installed broke about 3 days later the rivet pulled out. Do not recommend this one.

Easy install and love that I can just let my tailgate drop on its own now without slamming

Works as described. My heavy tailgate now opens without me having to use two hands. One to unlatch & another to deaden the hard fall of the tailgate. Installation requires no special tools & all necessary parts for installing were included. I would recommend this product.

Crush nut didn't expand properly and product fell off after a week or use. Having to return the item and just get an entire new product. Rough country has the Absolute worst! THE WORST customer service I've ever experienced and I had internet with xplore/xplorenet. Would absolutely not recommend rough country products. All I needed was a replacement crush nut/washer; maybe a $.05 item? Instead now returning the product and absolutely going to by a deezer tailgate assist. It's not worth saving a few dollars to have to deal with an inferior product. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH ROUGH COUNTRY.
