Q: I've noticed a price difference in the series $229.99 vs $279.99 Is there a difference between the two?

Useually the $229.00 price is for the guitar only $279 useually come with extras. Like a digital tuner gigbag cord or maybe a different set of extras

Q: Does it come with strings?

Yes, the bass comes with strings - de-tuned of course. After tuning it up, I had to raise one of the strings because of a little fret buzz, but other than that, it played and sounded great!
