Does this smart watch work heart rate function under water? Thanks

I took a bath with it. It worked. However, if you use any fitness apps, like Apple Health, Athlytic, Strava…etc, this watch won’t share data with them. So, I don’t recommend it to anyone planning to use it as part of a serious fitness routine. Unless you want to manually input all of your data. It also has the battery life of an Apple Watch, with much poorer functionality. A better option, in this price range is the Garmin Instinct 2.

Do you need to charge it?

Yes, but very infrequently. Mine lasts 2 to 3 weeks before charging.
