Very durable yet lightweight. I do recommend for helping someone stand.
This belt is a game changer! My husband has difficulty standing due to muscle issues in his legs. We have had to call the fire department one evening because he fell on the floor, and another evening when he fell down the steps. But since I have purchased these gate belts - one for him so I could hold him, and one for me so he could hold on to me - I have always been able to help him stand. He’s 6’ tall and 200 lbs; I’m 5’2” and 85 lbs. but they still help. I do have to wear a few coats or towels around my belly because they are a bit too large for me, but they fit him very well. I was concerned about the plastic clasps, but they have held up pretty well. The fabric is very durable and has several handles - vertical and horizontal - that offers several options for grabbing on the belt without needing to pull and stretch his clothing. All the physical therapists and nurses who have needed to help my husband stand have loved this belt. The belts they use is a simple smooth leather belt like a belt worn on pants, except their belt is double or triple the size in width. But it doesn’t have handles, so the PT has to hold the belt, itself, which can dig into the skin of the therapist and the patient. This belt is comfortable and easy to use. I inspect the belt before and after each use, and this has held up nicely! I do recommend this belt for both helping someone stand and helping them up the stairs (with training and practice).

Good Purchase - Good Value
I love this belt to securely move my father from place to place. And it's so much easier to use than a regular GAIT belt. It clips in to place or snaps I guess you could say like a seatbelt almost for some reason my dad doesn't like it and that I don't understand that to me. It doesn't really matter because I just can't have them fall down and it allows me to help him without having to deal with his full weight.

Super helpful!
Traveled on an international flight with Mom. Her mobility challenges made moving around difficult. With the handles on this gait belt, helping her get into and out of an airplane seat and moving on the aisles during sudden turbulence was made to be more safe.

Provide additional stability
My Mom's caregivers asked for these belts. They are very flexible - for transfers, either Mom can wear them and the caregiver can help lift her, or the caregiver can wear them and Mom can hang on to them. These are nice and thick so there have been no complaints about them cutting in to Mom, as with a standard gait belt. When Mom walks, the caregiver is able to keep a nice, solid hold on her.

Tricky to adjust at first, made very well
This belt is made very well, but we couldn't get it adjusted smaller than about 50 inches. I was almost ready to send it back, but then fiddled with the belt some more, as I thought that couldn't be right. My husband is a small man, with a waist of 35." We adjusted it to the smallest size, and it fit just right. It will adjust to a very large waist for sure. Without measurements, I would guess it would accommodate at least 60" or more. My waist is 45" and we had it adjusted to about the medium size. It fell to the ground on me. An extremely large person should be able to use this belt.

Dangerous!
DANGER! This product unbuckled on the third use! My mother fell! Do not trust the buckle!! It was not a user error. I’m extremely cautious with my care for my mother and this was a product error.

This is a strong transfer belt with good grip around the person. It is adjustable on the waist, good support, the handles for users are well placed so it is easy to support the person being transferred. The colour is a vibrant purple, it is easy to use and easy to clean as well. It is machine washable but I would not recomment putting it on the dryer. Good quality, stiched well, durable and will last long.

I bought this gait belt for my father and overall I’m impressed with the quality and thoughtful design. The multiple handles are a really useful feature they make it so much easier to help him steady himself from different angles, and the quick-release buckle gives me confidence that I can get him free quickly if needed. It’s sturdy, well-made, and feels like it was built for heavy use, which is something we both appreciate. That said, there are a couple of limitations we ran into. While the belt doesn’t slip off, we found that it’s hard to tighten it enough without making it uncomfortable or restrictive for Dad. It sits around his waist like it should, but because it only has that one main attachment point, it tends to ride up and lift his body a bit when I’m helping him stand or transfer. A design that included some sort of support wrap or strap around the hips/rump area might have prevented that and made transfers smoother and more secure. In short: excellent build and very thoughtfully designed handles, but the fit and support could be improved for people who need firmer, more stable transfer assistance. Still a solid choice, just something to be aware of if your loved one needs extra stabilization during transfers. Would recommend for caregivers who value multiple grip options, but be mindful that it may not replace the extra stability you’d get from more structured support systems.
