I'm In Heaven
Folks... my entire life I've been a chocoholicBut, with aging, my digestion has been rejecting my favorite foods one after the other and the most recent one is, tragically, chocolate -but I'm a stubborn old crone and I was willing to endure the unpleasant "output" after eating something made with chocolate, no matter how unsatisfyingly tiny the portion was, and seriously we're talking about only a mere bite or two causing problems! But as it happens, I learned about carob.. so I figured I have nothing to lose so what the heck, and I bought it .. and tried it .. and was pleasantly surprised to find it DOES have the chocolate-y taste that rivals hersheys and other brands!!!So I went a step further and bought a little mini ice cream machine (available on this site!) and just now had the most amazing bowl of velvety goodness minus the additives and honestly it feels like I won the lottery!!!Oh and here's a bonus (not that you'd need one but hey)CAROB IS NOT TOXIC TO DOGS LIKE CHOCOLATE IS!!!!!!!!!! ASK YOUR VET, they'll confirm that!!!!So.. anyway.. summer is upon us and what better way to celebrate it than enjoying a nice bowl of carob ice cream that won't punish you later, amirite??!!!And I've shopped around... this is a very good price!!

A dream come true
I am a huge chocolate lover and if I didn’t have to avoid it I used to call myself a chocoholic , but I have been suffering from digestive issues for the last few years and have to avoid chocolate. It’s very hard and saddening to have to avoid chocolate when you love it and it can make you quite depressed.I was so happy to find out that carob is safe for people with reflux/acid issues.I have used this powder as a straight substitute for cocoa powder in baking and it works like a dream!I found that using this as hot chocolate I needed less than the recipe called for.I would say that carob comes closer to a darker chocolate than anything, it has a sort of roasted taste to it, it’s not the same as chocolate but it definitely comes very close and takes the edge off cravings!I recently made carob baked donuts with it using vegan butter and almond milk, I’ve also made a recipe for soft chewy chocolate cookies and they were so delicious! My husband who isn’t even a big chocolate person loved them as well.I do recommend when substituting for cocoa powder to slightly lesson the amount of sugar since carob is a bit sweeter. You don’t have to use much less just a little bit.I will definitely be making a “chocolate” cake with it and I can’t wait to try more recipes. I look forward to trying the carob chips as a substitute for melting chocolate!I can’t tell you how much this has brought me a little bit of joy while dealing with health issues and it takes the edge off of not being able to eat one of my favorite things.

Ok, but not organic
Other brands offer organic options. Otherwise an ok product.

I am not able to have caffeine anymore because of health problems. My husband found this and ordered it for me. I had my first cup this morning, and it is so delicious. I loved it and am so happy to have a hot drink again. I missed coffee so much, but his is a great replacement. I highly recommend it.

Product not as advertised, but delicious nonetheless!!
I am having a very sever acid reflux/GERD flare up and that means that having real chocolate is off the table for me. That's when I found carob powder! The product label shown in the photos is not the same as what I received. However, it didn't really matter much to me at the end of the day because I was incredibly happy with this product. The first thing I tried was a hot carob drink with vanilla almond milk. I used a bit too much powder and it tasted very bitter. The second time I tried it I used 1/2 tbsp of carob instead of a full tablespoon and it tasted so much better!! I added a little bit of Manuka honey and it tasted just like hot chocolate. The next thing I made was homemade carob "chocolate." I used 1/2 cup carob, 1/2 cup melted coconut oil, 1/8 tsp salt, 1.5 tbsp honey and 1 tsp vanilla. I mixed it all together and put in on a plate, stuck it in the freezer for 30 minutes and then I was able to cut it.It was a great pick me up. I've been extremely limited on food right now while I'm healing and it was so nice to have a treat.

Best non-chocolate ever…
First off, carob isn’t chocolate, nor is it really a substitute for it, but when my diet required me to eliminate cocoa among the rest of things I couldn’t eat, this was what I tried.I haven’t had carob in a very long time, since I was a teenager living near a Mennonite community. Since I had no dietary requirements back then, I naturally preferred chocolate, but I still remember the taste. This tastes exactly the same, it’s both flavorful and aromatic just the same as I remember. It clumps less than what I had back then, probably because of the difference in packaging, since the stuff I had as a kid came in a paper sack.I’ve returned to the old recipes for brownies that I used, and gotten great results. I’ve even used it on a kefir cheesecake recipe as a garnish and liked it a lot.Like I said, it’s not cocoa, or chocolate, but take this product’s flavors on their own- it’s delicious. I’ve enjoyed a much more creative and diverse cooking experience, and it’s nice to have something familiar from my childhood again.
