An abundance of knowledge inside a work of art.
This is the most beautiful book I've ever owned (and I own a lot of them). It's also one of the more expensive, but I think the price is justified for the amount of work it took to research and illustrate each section so meticulously. Besides, when the apocalypse strikes and our money is worthless, we'll want to know how to distill our own whisky.

Wonderful book
An absolutely stunning sensory experience from the moment the box arrives in your hands — it feels like opening a carefully crafted gift. The paper quality is excellent, the illustrations are gorgeous, and the content itself is thoughtfully put together. Before purchasing it, I expected a more technical, instructional approach — detailed guides on how things are built. What it offers instead is a beautifully illustrated overview of great human achievements, infused with a vintage aesthetic and a playful twist. A delightful book to browse, admire, and return to.

A beautiful, inspiring book—but more overview than survival manual
This is a high-quality, well-made volume. The binding is solid, the paper is thick and substantial, and the book has a satisfying heft to it. Physically, it feels like something special—almost like a treasured alchemical text you’d expect to find tucked away in Merlin’s library. The illustrations are outstanding. They’re plentiful, artistic, and thoughtfully done, with at least one illustration per page across hundreds of pages. Even flipping through the book is enjoyable; it’s visually rich and clearly produced with care. The scope of material covered is immense. Topics range from bridge building and antibiotics to food collection, storage and management, herbal medicine, and even city planning. The breadth is impressive and intellectually stimulating. That said, the depth is where this book falls short. Each subject is treated very briefly—often no more than one or two pages—even for highly complex topics like chemistry or wound management. The result is more of a taste of each subject rather than practical, actionable guidance. In a true SHTF or survival scenario, this wouldn’t be sufficient as a standalone reference. Overall, I’m glad I own the book. It looks great on a coffee table and sparks curiosity and conversation. However, if you’re a prepper looking for the one book to put in your backpack and rely on for real-world survival, this isn’t it—despite how it’s marketed.

Beautiful Book
It would be nice to have information if society ever collapsed, but there are better sources for that info. This is a piece of art and should be displayed as such.

Beautifully done! It reminded me of the encyclopedia packages i used to own. But this is much better because the information is compact and actually very entertaining with the admirably beautiful drawings inside. Its nice to see people are still interested to seek the information from books instead of AI tools

This book is exactly as good as you'd think it is. It's huge, it's engaging, and it's beautiful. My wife got this for my birthday, and I'll cherish it both as a source of entertainment, and as a showpiece on our coffee table.

This item has been on my wish list for months, but I could never quite justify the cost. However, thanks to generous relatives and a recent birthday, I've now got my copy and its everything I'd hoped for. I've not sat down for an in-depth read, so please bear in mind that this review is based on first impressions and initial leaf through. First off, The Book is gorgeous. It looks and feels very satisfactory with a tactile cover, and 'weathered' pages adding to the impression of some ancient tome. The illustrations are intricately detailed combining accurate technical information with flamboyant flourishes that blend traditional illumination with some sly pop cultural references and easter eggs. It arrived in excellent condition with its own storage box, and a post card from the creators, which serves as a handy bookmark; as another reviewer mentioned, if I had one quibble it would be the lack of a sewn ribbon marker but I'm not going to take off a star for that. I think that this is going to be a useful reference resource for years to come, and a nice one to just dip into occasionally. This is one of those items that is not 'only' a book, but a work of art, and its creators and contributors should be proud of what they have made.
