H pylori tests as advised by NICE - turned out to be easy to do if you have 30 minutes spare.
If you suffer bloating, indigestion or acid reflux then it is a wise idea to head to the NHS website for advice - and there the UK NICE has a great webpage for individuals to give them advice called "Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease and dyspepsia in adults: investigation and management". That guidance explains - "Your GP may suggest a test to see if you have H pylori and, if you do, offer a course of treatment to get rid of it". There are good reasons to want to treat it - for the symptoms are unpleasant in themselves and untreated, H. pylori (Helicobacter pylori bacteria ) can cause digestive problems, including ulcers or chronic inflammation in the walls of the stomach (gastritis) or duodenum (duodenitis). Rarely, H. pylori can cause stomach cancer. For most people the infection is easy to treat with antibiotics, so a quick and accurate diagnostic test is a great idea as a first step. So I was keen to test this Berkeley Health Easy Check H. Pylori Antigen Home Test Kit --- Here's what I found... Pros ✅ the technology is familiar to us all after the home covid testing. To make the test most accurate the instructions are key - it is important you should avoid use of laxatives, antacids, or anti-diarrheal medications for at least one week before collecting a specimen of stool (poo). Doing the test was easy. The stool sample needs breaking up to release any bacteria by shaking in the tube the test provides - then it was just waiting for the coloured lines to appear on the test strip (mine took 15 minutes and was negative). Cons ❌ none for me - the stated accuracy is as good as the alternative "breath test" and at £7.99 it is way better value than trying to get a GP appointment and losing half a day from work to get the test and the same again for getting the result. OVERALL - I like this - and would be happy to get it again. Delivery was next day.

Followed all instructions missing part of the kit. It didn’t do what it stated it would.

Simple test with quick results
As with any test like this you must trust that the manufacturer and regulators have done their job and that the test is as accurate as claimed. There is no way most people can evaluate this. However, apart from the minor unpleasantness of the test procedure, the test itself is quick to perform and the results likewise arrive very quickly and clearly. This test uses a 'stool sample', so you need to collect some of that on toilet paper or using the crepe strip they provide to tape across the top of your toilet. Once you have your source material you just unscrew the blue end of the sample tube to reveal the sampling rod, poke the sample three times with this rod, screw it back into the tube, shake vigorously, unscrew the cap from the other end of the sample tube, snap off the seal and drip two drops of the solution onto the test cassette hole. This part is just like doing one of those lateral flow tests we're now all so familiar with, post-pandemic. Wait ten minutes and you're done. It's very easy to read the result, which is again just like an LFT. The price right now doesn't seem unreasonable for what you get, particularly as this is the sort of test you'd take at most a few times in your life. The only negative I can think of with this test kit is that the instruction leaflet is printed in absolutely minuscule type, so you need your glasses handy!

Really easy test to use
I have irritable bowel syndrome and as such its really difficult to differentiate between a flare up and something more sinister going on sometimes. Thats where this test comes into its own as i can test quickly and easily for Heliobacter Pylori just to rule that out without a visit to the doctor. The test is relatively simple to do , place the included 'catchment' paper across the loo ( this is also flushable ). Do your business and then take your sample by stabbing the waste with the included collection tool and then place in the sample fluid vial and mix like you would taking a covid test. Then drip two drops on the test strip again as you would when doing a covid test , then wait for a result, T and C will go positive for a positive test and one bar if negative, again like a covid test . I was negative, with that i can say that if the test is accurate its a really worthy test kit to rule out H.Pylori at a reasonable cost ( only a single test though ) , obviously i have no way to test its accuracy however.

Convenient and quick to use
This is a good way to do your own private test at home and really for the cost of the test it saves the fuel and the inconvenience of going to the doctor's or hospital to have it done. It is ideal if you have had helicobacter pylori before and are concerned it could have returned. So I think it's worth it for the convenience.
