Q: Could this be used as weapon light?

It’s not very bright, so I wouldn’t recommend it. The TLR model made by Streamlight is a much more powerfully light, focused beam, and ergonomically works great on a pistol. Could be used on a long gun too, but there are some options like the Polytac with a remote switch that might be a better choice.

Great light. have three one quite working.just forget about the warranty because they wouldn't help me !

Q: How do you open this to put batteries in? And where does it open? I tried two different spots and neither moved.

I’m pretty sure it’s behind the bulb. The whole front comes off. Did it once and don’t have it with me on my helmet at work. Hope this helps.
