Sunrise Medical Sterling Pearl Class 2 Mobility Scooter - Blue 4MPH Car Boot

I've had this scooter for 2.5 years and this was the first scooter I had had and didn't do much research before buying this 2nd hand, which was a big mistake. I loved it at 1st because it gave me independence after a year of not being able to go out on my own. This model has 3 pins that the battery sits on top of, if any of these drop the connections cuts and the scooter stops. The problem is that slight bumps, for example the tactile crossing bumps at pedestrian crossings (used to denote crossing for the visually impaired) sometimes cause it to cut out. So you can go to cross the road and it cuts out as you're half way into the road and you have to turn it off and on again to get it to go again. About 6 months ago the connection went completely as one of the pins dropped down, apparently a battery surge had caused the plastic bed to melt and the pin to drop down. I was able to get it fixed, they used a washer to get the pin to sit higher again, but was told it could happen again at any time. There is also a lot of battery bounce (where the weight of the battery causes it to bang up and down) going up and down not properly dropped kerbs, as the battery is not secured down. Have just upgraded to the Apex Rapid, which i'm finding a massive improvement as it's very smooth on crossing bumps and no cutting out! Test drive before you buy, and I mean a good test drive if you can, driving on the different surfaces you would normally/intend to use it on; flagged pavement, tarmac, uneven surfaces to get an idea if a scooter is suitable to you.
