Netac ZX20 2TB Extreme 2TB Portable NVMe SSD, USB 3.2 Gen 2x2, up to 2000MB/s Read and 1700MB/s Write Speed, Supports Win To Go Dust-Resistant, Black

What an amazing little device. Bought whilst it had 20% off so £47.39 for the 512Gb. See attached Crystal Disk Mark screen shot. Incredbile performance Read EXCEEDED rated slightly and write was almost the same. Random read/write outperforming the sequential speed of other drives I had. Note this was plugged into a 20Gb/s capable USB-C port. When plugged in to a USB3.0 performance was around 450MB/s, this is to be expected as it is only 5Gb/s capable and real world is always a tenth of rated port speed. If you were hoping to use as a hand warmer, sadly you will be disappointed in this aspect, as it barely got warm when benchmarking. ;-) As you can see in my other picture, it's tiny. Very, very impressed.

The Netac ZX20 1TB External SSD is a reasonably fast (~900MB/s) that I was using to backup a second copy of photos whilst travelling. Unfortunately it’s failed after a month of very light use (~300GB IO). I’ve logged this with the Netac support email (contact details on Amazon are duff) and will update the review with my support experience in due course. ————- Update 31/10/23 Reply from support was fairly prompt 3 days and they stated they would put me in contact with the local distributor. Unfortunately I’m still waiting for an email follow up. The seller reached out on this review and offered a full refund (which I would buy another with as I think this failure is an edge case) however then someone else contacted me from the company (through Amazon) and stated that as it’s over 1 month old I need to send it to China for replacement; when explaining that I’m happy with the offered refund they are now stating it will be a replacement. There seems to be 2 departments conflicting here or at least they’re changing their minds. Whilst annoying, I’m happy to send to China however as the item was sold in the UK and faulty under 6 months Consumer Rights Act 2015 outlines that the seller should pay for the return cost (as I’ve not changed my mind, the item is faulty). Unfortunately I can see this turning into a bit of an escapade. ————- Update 11/11/23 They have seemingly stopped responding to me and the last communication was 25/10/23 despite 4 follow up messages from myself. I received no further follow up email regarding local representative. I’ve had to start escalating with Amazon. ————- 1/1/25 Received absolutely zero all round. No support whatsoever so ever. On your head be it! I would never store anything I need again on this kit.

Good product does the job

OK - maybe a little late writing this review, I have had the 1tb version of this device for two years now. I use it daily (read / write) and it travels everywhere with me. In all that time it hasn't missed a beat. Because I travel and as I said use it a lot I have probably got through three cables, but the Netac ZX20 has been just perfect.

Easy to use, plug and play, also small enough you could put it on a keyring and looks fairly robust.

I thought I'd try this brand. Within 6 months the drive started to fail. So glad I backed it up. Thanks to ccc for identifying the problem. The read/write speed started to slow down and the drive was totally unusable with 24 hours of the initial slow down. The company finally provided a replacement. Then in around 4 months of use, the drive started to act funny with read/write speeds dramatically slower and eventually the drive could not be used. Since it was an SSD, it had been formatted in APFS. I tried reformatting as exfat to see if that would do anything. It actually started working and then it started to degrade again with a few days. I contacted NETAC support. NO response. Tried contacting them again after around 20 days asking if they could be courteous enough to respond. NO response. Many thanks to AMAZON support for finally helping me on this. I WOULD NOT BUY THIS DRIVE!

Out of the box diskmark, on a usb type C 2x2 - none too shoddy - whats a use case? Fast bulk storage and transfers, say your best friend wants to play COD and you dowloaded the data... well this is the tool that gets them in game with you in a jiffy. I would never store precious data on any portable device, there are far more robust options for that. But in terms of speed, portability and solid construction, this fits the bill. Its also half the price of some competitors, make of that what you will :)

Sehr gute Festplatte wenn man viel unterwegs ist oder an verschiedenen Computern arbeitet. Ich habe sie mir für die Meisterschule gekauft und würde es wieder tun. Es sind zwei Kabel dabei 1x USB-C - USB-C, 1x USB-C - USB-A und ein kleines Hülle für die Festplatte selbst.

Un ottimo prodotto, dall'ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo. Il Netac ZX20 è un disco SSD esterno, molto compatto e leggero, ideale per chi necessita di un’unità portatile con una buona velocità. La scocca misura infatti solo 71.5mm x 43.5mm x 8mm. Il disco supporta l’interfaccia USB 3.2 -Gen 2- con connettore USB Type-C (compatibile con le precedenti interfacce); all’interno della confezione sono forniti due cavi di collegamento: uno "usb c-usb c"; un altro "usb c-usb A". Si segnala l'assenza di un led di stato, sicuramente non essenziale, ma che comunque sarebbe stato utile. Il disco è compatibile con sistemi Mac, Windows, Linux, Android, iOS, iPadOS e con le principali console di gioco. Le prestazioni sono più che buone e i dati forniti abbastanza fedeli alla realtà (si possono anche raggiungere, se connesso alle interfacce più recenti, picchi in lettura/scrittura prossimi ai dati dichiarati -2000/1700 MB/s-); in ogni caso, si deve tener in debito conto che la velocità di scrittura e lettura viene sensibilmente influenzata da una molteplicità di fattori, ivi comprese le performance del dispositivo a cui è connesso il disco. Sicuramente consigliato, anche tenendo conto dell'ottimo prezzo, ogni tanto in offerta. Direi cinque stelle meritate. Spero di essere stato utile 👋🏼

Paar weken in bezit nu. Hij is klein en snel en dat voor een spotprijs. Heb je een backup schijf nodig voor je foto's of voor je telefoon dan is dit een aanrader. Uiteindelijk moet de tijd uitwijzen of dit een duurzame aankoop is geweest. Voor nu zeg ik : kopen als je het echt nodig hebt.
