Fun art project for kids and adults!
I had one of these as a kid in the 80s, I think it was called the Twirl-O-Paint! so I was so excited to get one for my own kids, who are 6 & 8. It is a little smaller than the original lol but that’s ok, still provides the same enjoyment for the kids! We love seeing how each piece turns out, they are so fun and different each time! The quality is good, and nice that it comes with a good amount of paint and paper. It is easy to clean, just remove the splatter guard and wipe with a damp cloth. Just remember to wipe it down right away when the paint is still wet, it comes off easily.

Results impressive
Supervise to avoid messes. These are fun and pretty, but get used up fast. Order replacement paint and paper. I found the cost of supplies low.

My kids love this
My kids loved this. I had a strong feeling they would do I bought extra paper and paint for when they run out of what was supplied. They had so much fun. I had so much fun. It is a bit messy, but good art is messy is it not? I would put something down in the work area. Some people complained about not being able to get the paint off of surfaces but it came off of everything it touched with ease. I had my 2 year old and 5 year old enthralled with this for a while. It’s a fun family activity. I wouldn’t let them use it alone but I enjoyed watching their little creative minds work! Also just a note… I would take the batteries out after each use.

Great gift!
A great gift for my children who were amazed at their projects. The splatter guard keeps the paint inside. Definitely recommend cleaning it right away and not letting the paint dry.

My kids loved this!
My daughter and son loved playing with this. As in it only lasted in our house for a few days. They played with it until all the paint was empty and we had tons of colorful artwork. I had to force them to change activities at one point. My son (about 3 1/2 at the time) has always had troubles with sitting still and focusing on one task, and this kept his full attention. He loved squeezing the little bottles and watching the paint come out and spinning around on the paper. My daughter (5 at the time) has always been into crafts and art, so this was a no brainer gift for her. They couldn't wait for each other to finish so they could have another turn to squirt the colors onto the paper. It was very easy to figure out as far as putting the few pieces together for the spinner and then inserting the papers into the spinner correctly. I highly recommend this spin art machine. It's a great experience for curious little minds and they also make beautiful artwork in the process.

Difficult to clean, but fun
We just got this yesterday and my daughter has had so much fun using this since then! That said, do I recommend this product?: Maybe. Read below for a more in-depth review. This product is fun and includes great colors - I love the metallic colors they include, even if those 3 are small bottles. The major drawbacks of the product mainly center around cleanup. There is no way my daughter can clean this up by herself, so a lot of the autonomy of this is gone. One of the reasons its difficult to clean up is the battery compartment within the unit. I bought this unit because I didn't want to have to spin it manually, but now I see the drawbacks to a powered unit. Embedded battery compartment + water = bad news for cleaning. It might have been a smarter design if the motorized part of the unit were a removable, rotating, notched 'pin' that sticks in and attaches underneath the unit and spins during use, but can be removed for cleaning. I also don't yet understand the purpose for all of the negative shapes in the yellow piece that holds the papers, but it just makes it tougher to clean than a solid piece would have been. One or two holes to put your fingers in to pull the piece out would have been sufficient. The rounded bumps that the clear plastic cover fits over also trap paint like crazy and are so annoying to clean. I feel like the space between them was unnecessary and is just a pain to clean. The embedded paint bottle holder section is cute and somewhat handy...if you only ever plan to use the manufacturers paint. Unfortunately, they trap paint during normal use and during cleaning and they are difficult to clean. A simple, seperate, lidded container would probably have been better for paint storage and holding. Also, the paints were inconsistent. Some worked great, but some of the paints didn't work as expected and would hit the paper and immediately go flying in a giant gloop off to the side, onto the cover, barely getting any color at all onto the page. (We noticed this with the yellow and blue, in particular, and somewhat with the gold.) I don't know yet if some of the paints were too viscous or the machine spins too fast, or both. Tip 1: When squeezing paint, hold it away from you, tilted backward, but have the tip end pointed at the page but a bit *toward* you. It seems counterintuitive, but it was the only way the gloopy paints worked. Tip 2: Let the unit get up to full speed (takes about 2 seconds) and then turn it off and try to squeeze the paint onto it as it is slowing a bit. The slightly slower speeds worked good for us and created some more interesting designs. Elaboration on whether I would recommend this product or not: I am undecided. Now that I know the pitfalls, I would first see if there are other powered units that are easier to clean for children to be more independent with. I do like this powered version over the manually-powered Tyco Swirl Art from my childhood, though.

Kid approved!
My very creative 6 year old son LOVES this thing! Probably one of my best gifts to him to date. I probably wouldn't gift it to someone else though for fear of resentment from the mess, and risk of getting a dud hah. Ours worked great though. He went through all of the cards the first day. The battery still has juice, and it spins quite fast. I was worried about the mess, and was on edge the first few times it flung to the sides. The guard actually did catch the majority of it thankfully. We also did it over an old large towel. Whenever working with paint it will inevitably get on your hands and things around you. All of the paint in the kit worked, and we also added our own acrylic paint. I might even try Crayola washable paint in a squeeze bottle for an even easier cleanup. I was there to make sure the mess was under control, but otherwise he designed them and did it completely by himself. We loved the suspense of waiting for the spin to stop. He would get so excited every time and say "ohh I wonder what it's going to look like?!?" It is also memorizing and pretty to watch. I was able to find more cards by searching for 6 inch or less cardstock cutouts. Overall this is a pretty cool craft for anyone and I would recommend!

So fun! My students LOVE it! Works well with watercolors too (I did not dare try the paint included in my class of 5 year olds:-). My only warning would be to make sure those little fingers don’t touch it while it’s spinning- it is powerful!

Quite frankly the drawings looked really bad but damn did this ever entertain my 4 and 5 year old grandchildren. Also I didn't realize that the paint is not soluble and we had a bit of a time getting the paint off ourselves. Put down a piece of plastic on the floor to protect it (so happy I did that). They left their "paintings" to dry and next time they visit they will take them home to their parents. Their dad called me up and said they were already looking forward to another art session.

This was a great buy and kept my 5 year old very entertained. He’s gone back to it over and over again. For any kids that love art this is a fun activity.

My son loved this activity. Unfortunately we received two blue paints and no yellow paint. Despite this he enjoyed the activity. I would purchase again as a gift. Hopefully the next one comes with all the colours.
