Very solid; brilliant UV + 1Yr update
I have been using a Berkey gravity filter for years. My plan was to purchase this and just use the UV device on my Berkey. But when I saw this product, I decided to retire the berkey. I think the UV device was brilliant and it is very solidly made. The whole unit is pretty heavy duty. I saw reviews here that said their unit rusted - I’m keeping the Berkey just in case. The berkey is more heavily polished where this one is burnished. That said, I have no plans to use the filters included. I am going to fit this unit with the Dalton Berkefeld flouride filter that I used in the Berkey. I think those are superior. You can get their filter test results online. The filter holes are just slightly small to fit the dalton filters so I am going to drill out the holes by another 1/8 of an inch. So far, I’m happy with this but it will take more use to see if it stands up to use. It’s so hard to find a system that truly cleans water. Even the RO units are loaded with plastic that comes in contact with the water. Ugh. This gravity filter with UV and British Berkeley filters I think is the best balance I’ve found. One year later and the unit is working well. No problems, no rusting. I drilled the holes to fit the Dalton ultra flouride filter since I think these are superior. I am replacing them today after a year. Gave my similar Berkey unit to a friend with the filters that came with this unit. He thought the water tasted great compared to his old filter. I think the Cloud RO unit is also worth considering. I couldn’t use since I can’t drill my rental countertop.

I do Love ti.
This Membrane Solutions UV Countertop Water Filtration System was so great at my daughters house that had city water, that I bought another for my son that lived in a trailer park. It was great at my daughter's but much improved at my sons but not great there. One negative if you can call it that and I hope they improve on it, is this: The spigot is about 1" from the bottom of the second "pot". It can never clear it of all the water. The top "pot" never clears out all the way of the water. Maybe that's no big deal, but how long can you keep adding water and it all doesn't filter out? I do love it, as it is an improvement. I do Love the UV light. It is very easy to install. The water is slow to flow out but that's not a deal killer.

Family essential
My household was spending hundreds of dollars a year on bottled water. I kept reading how bad plastic is for us and the environment so started looking around. Purchased this about a year ago and it's sitting beside my kitchen sink still. We fill it up with basic city water and it filters to taste just like bottled water. I bought air tight mason jars to fill and place in the refrigerator to cool the water. Then I just pour from the mason pitcher into my yeti cup and I have clean tasting cold water all day. Couldn't be happier, the whole family loves the water. I do back wash the filters and clean out the tanks about once a month then run a couple of tanks through to make sure water tastes clean again. That's it, super easy. It was a bit pricy to buy but it pays for itself fast. Purchased 6 refill filters for lile 100 bucks so my total for 27,000 gallons of purified water is 300 bucks. We were spending more than that on bottled water and creating mountains of trash. Buy the mason pitcher or something air tight so your refrigerator doesn't flavor your water and a cup of some kind to keep your water cold and you'll never look at a bottle of water again.

Love it so far
This filter has been great after more than a month of use. Filters fast and the water tastes great. We’ve been giving it well water pre-filtered with a basic sediment filter and a Waterdrop faucet-connected filter with an LCF filter. Capacity is good and the system is attractive and looks high quality and well-designed. No leaks unless the lower chamber is overfilled. The flow rate from the spigot is 0.17 gpm, around 6 minutes for a gallon of water. Not fast but fast enough. We fill bigger dispensers by putting them on a chair beneath the filter. We routinely use it to fill a 27-cup Brita Elite dispenser that we put in the fridge. Although this additional filtering shouldn’t really be needed, we already had this Brita and several filters before we purchased this gravity filter and we live in an area with emerging contaminants such as PFAS, with very low safe limits that keep on dropping. We haven’t tested the filtered water, except for pH and TDS, but our goal is non-detectable PFAS among other things and the lab testing of the filter system offers some peace of mind. We’ve found that this filter doesn’t change the TDS, as expected with this kind of filter, but it does seem to increase the pH a little bit, which seems like a positive. Last tested pH was 7.7 vs 7.3 from the faucet filter and ca. 7.1 from the faucet. TDS by itself can be a positive for health, supplying good minerals. Our Brita Elite filter does reduce TDS some with its ion-exchange filter stage, e.g. from 291 ppm from the gravity filter to 232 with the Brita. The UV light sterilizing is a useful extra feature and has been working well, plugged into a wall socket with the supplied USB adapter. This gravity filter should filter out most bacteria because of their size but the UV sterilization should disable much smaller viruses that pass through. The upper chamber can be quite easily lifted to check how much water is in the lower chamber. The UV light going off when the lower chamber is low is also useful.
