For years I've been hunting for a really slow-turning motor for turning a disco ball at off-grid parties (IKR?!), ideally battery-powered. Naturally, commercially available ones are easy to find - but they turn at 5rpm, which is enough to induce audience vertigo! I've even tried using low-voltage PWM units to 'dial down' the speed, but around 2 to 1.5 rpm the pulses seem to be too spaced apart to run such a motor at its rated voltage (4.5-5.0v). Finally, I took a punt on one of these. Happy days! Sure, there's a little noise from the reduction gear - but now the points of light reflected off a mirror ball revolve as steadily as the sweep-second hand of a Rolex. Best of all, it was a doddle to fabricate a little plywood case for it (see pic below) and connect a tiny 2800mAh powerbank, which will happily run it for many, many hours (I haven't tested its full capacity, but it's done easily 5hrs so far, turning a smallish mirror ball). I've no idea what other uses an excellent little DC motor like this has, but as you will have gathered I am more than happy to recommend it!

Excellent motor! I use these for my 3D printed bullet and case feeders on my reloading press. They work flawlessly, easy to connect.

I've used several of these for various projects. They are a nice sturdy little gear motor, available in a wide range of reductions. This 35RPM version gives a LOT of torque at 12V. Easy to mount. Can run forward or reverse by changing polarity of the supply. Because it's a worm gear motor, it locks in place when not powered, so useful for anything where you want it to hold its position when idle. Will buy again when I need more.
