Smell proof
Purchased to store air fresheners to sell. The bags have endured being opened and closed many times. They are easy to hang for displaying and have a clear front so the customers can enjoy selecting the designs the want. They are the perfect size for the size product I use them for.

Good for long term food storage
These mylar bags are only 5 MIL thick, so they're best suited for storing soft foods such as powdered milk, freeze dried powdered eggs, flour, sugar, herbs or important documents rather than anything with sharp or hard edges that might cause punctures. I recommend that you use bags that are at least 7 MIL thick for those. The bags have tear notches on the bottom side which gives you plenty of room to seal the tops, but they don't have a zippered closure, so they aren't resealable. These are non-gusseted bags that don't expand to give any extra width or stand up for easy filling. I like using these gallon size bags to store flour that I keep in five-gallon buckets, but you could easily use a half of the bag to store one item, then heat seal it in the middle, store another item in the top half then heat seal the top closed. Once properly sealed, these bags will keep the food protected from oxygen, light, and leaking. Pack your mylar bags first, then open a packet of oxygen absorbers and place one in each bag, and manually try to push air out before you seal the bags. Oxygen absorbers remove oxygen which makes up approximately 21% of atmospheric gases, but they don't remove nitrogen or other atmospheric gases so don't expect your bag to shrink down in size as if it was vacuum sealed. Don't worry though because those won't affect your food items. Mylar bags need to be heat sealed rather than vacuum sealed, so you'll need an impact sealer, an iron, or a hair straightener to seal them. This is a good value for fifty bags.

Great bags
Nice and thick bags. They hold up well and are not easily breakable compared to standard bags. Also are quite large.

Thick, seals well with heat but no resealable zipper
I use mylar bags primarily for food storage and gift-giving purposes. These work well for packaging homemade candies and hand blended teas. I like that these mylar bags are nice and thick. They keep food fresher for longer than plastic bags. These must be filled from the bottom and then heat sealed. To keep food fresh even longer, I use my vacuum sealer to pull out even more air prior to sealing. The only thing I don't like about these particular bags is that they don't have a supplementary resealable zipper, so once I open these mylar bags, I either have to quickly use up the contents inside or find another container in which to store them. Otherwise, these are on par with other bags I've used in the past.
