One of the best lights you can have for a desk
The BenQ ScreenBar is a stylish, effective solution for improved desk lighting and reduced eye strain. A bit pricey, but the high-quality lighting and design justify the cost for those who spend long hours at their desk. Simple to install with a clamp that attaches to your monitor, and the touch controls make adjusting brightness and color temperature a breeze.

A High-End Reading Light That Delivers on All Its Promises
I've been using the BenQ Screenbar E-Reading LED Computer Monitor Light Lamp for over a year now and I have to say, I'm really impressed with it. The matte black design is sleek and modern, and it complements my backlight/RGB setup nicely. But what really sets this light apart is its auto-dimming and hue adjustment features. One of the things I love most about this light is that it is USB powered. This means that it is easy to set up and use, and it also makes it easy to take with you on the go if you need to. The build quality is also impressive. It feels solid and well-constructed, and it has held up well over the past year. The auto-dimming feature is a game-changer for me. It allows the light to automatically adjust to the ambient light in the room, which means that I can use it in any lighting conditions and still be able to see my screen clearly. The hue adjustment feature is also great, as it allows me to choose the color temperature of the light that I prefer. One thing I will say is that this product is on the expensive side, and if you don't have the extra money to spare, there are cheaper knock-offs available. However, I have tried both, and I have to say that this product is worth the extra money if you can afford it. The auto-dimming and hue adjustment features are so convenient, and the build quality is so good, that it's definitely worth it to me. Overall, I would highly recommend the BenQ Screenbar E-Reading LED Computer Monitor Light Lamp to anyone who is looking for a high-end reading light. It's well-constructed, easy to use, and offers a lot of great features that make it well worth the investment.

A great monitor light and a far better value than the Halo.
My office is set up for photo editing, with a calibrated monitor, calibrated lighting, and even the paint of the walls is designed to be absolutely color neutral. All great for my gig, but when I would use my desk for admin chores, the lighting was just too dim for that purpose. The BenQ Screenbar Monitor Light fixed that issue in terrific fashion. It is sleek, well designed, easy to use, and does a fantastic job putting light my desk when I need it, and not into my monitor, where I don't want it. And no, I do not leave it on when I'm photo editing, but it stays on for just about every other task at my desk. Nice. As an FYI, I was considering the BenQ Halo Screenbar Monitor Light as well, specifically because it is advertised as having a high color rendering index value of Ra>95, which means the color temperature it produces is extremely accurate in tone - which is great for previewing my photo prints. The $190 price of the Halo threw me off however, and when I checked in with BenQ, turns out the basic Screenbar Monitor Light has a color rendering index value of Ra>95 as well. Glad I checked and this less expensive version is a total win! Overall: This is a great monitor light and yes, you are paying more than the cheaper knock-offs, but the overall quality of this, and all of BenQ's screenbars, is just superb. My only "wish", is that I could turn the light down just a touch more, but that does nothing to change my opinion. The BenQ Screenbar Monitor Light comes recommended.

Excellent Build Quality and Light Dispersion
For years, I have used two desk lamps, one on each side of my monitor. Looking to remove clutter from my desk, I began looking at alternative lighting solutions. Upon finding the monitor mounted light bar solution, the challenge then becomes selecting the right one for the job. With the wide range of pricing across the different brands, justifying the much higher cost of the BENQ demands some thought. For me, the number one consideration was the mounting. If you look at the reviews, on other offerings, there are issues in this area. Flexibility for different monitor shapes lacking. Instability with mounting. And the hugely problematic manner in which one of the main BENQ alternatives SQUEEZES the monitor, potentially damaging the display panel itself. In addition to mounting design, the quality and lifespan of the LED lights are a consideration. Is the brightness uniform across the length of the light bar? Is the color of each LED uniform? Would it be a wise choice to go with a much cheaper alternative to the BENQ only to find that LEDs began failing, or were inconsistent. I may be incorrect in my assumption here, but I would like to think that the added cost of the BENQ is bringing an extra degree of quality and durability in these areas. With that said, other than the bite of the price, I am WELL pleased with the quality and performance of the BENQ. Super simple to mount. Extremely stable. Consistency of light level and dispersion. A top notch item in every respect.

Surprisingly bright and even light, but one major area for improvement.
This is a bright little lamp, and I like bright light. I let it run on auto, and it always seems to be the exact amount of light. The quality of the light is also excellent, and colors under this light look great. It doesn't get overly hot. I did find though my monitor fits the requirements perfectly that I had to use a little bit of blue-tac (aka museum putty) to keep it in place. No big deal. My only gripe is that if you have your monitor at at ergonomic height, you have to decide between rotating the light forward and having it glare in your eyes, or rotating it far back to the maximum, which will glare at the top of the monitor. Note: This will be fine if your monitor is really low. But with the top of your monitor being eye level, you will be staring into this light. BenQ could easily fix it by making the front of the plastic housing just a little bit longer. Ultimately, I decided to tilt it toward my monitor. It does glare off the bezel, but that's preferable to in the eyes. Additionally you will get some glare and light leakage at the ends as the reflector in the end caps extends to the bottom. I will likely put some matte black paint in that area to stop the glare. With consideration to the overall good quality of the item and excellent light, I would still recommend this item. It has gone a long way to reduce the amount of eye strain I get - especially in low light situations.

Improved the quality of my workspace, could be a bit brighter though.
I have the Plus version with the desktop dial. I felt like this would be better than trying to push buttons at the top of your monitor all the time, and it's very easy to use. You can adjust the color temperature and the lighting level and there's a lot increments for adjustment. I was able to match the color temperature to my desk lamp (TaoTronics TT-DL16) so both products seem to have the same lighting color across my workspace. I bought the BenQ because while I really liked my TaoTronics LED lamp, it's at the top left corner of my desk and didn't light the center very well. I'm not convinced that the auto dimmer feature is very useful as of yet but honestly I'd be pretty content so far even without that feature, maybe it will become useful later. My only gripe is that it's not the brightest lamp, but combined with my original desk light that's at the corner of my desk, I have a nicely lit workspace. This one is what really makes the difference, as having light directly in front of me is key. If you can justify the price tag this is a pretty sweet lamp. Just a thought, if this is your only light on for your workspace, having something to supplement it might be preferable.

Great light!
I really wanted to be disappointed with this light because of the price. I hesitated for a long time on purchasing it. I always went back to look at and also looked at in Instagram as well. Finally after being so frustrated with my current light situation I took the plunge and purchased it! Very easy to put up! Love the auto dial dimmer! Does not take up room on your desk. This light gives the right amount of light onto the desk exactly where you need it not in your eyes! You can change the hue and dim it, make it bright! I really wish I would have purchased it sooner! This is a really great monitor light! The only disappointment was after waiting for it to drop in price or maybe a sale which never happened for me. I went back to leave a review and it was on sale for $15 less. Can't get too mad because I really think it's worth the price!

Substantial, well made and brings luxury to the home office.
I considered more inexpensive options, but was persuaded by a friend to invest in the more expensive BenQ option. I do not regret the additional cost. This is a well made piece of tech that helps my office feel more accessible and less tiresome. The light bar itself feels very well made and crafted, with a pleasant heft and excellent responsiveness in the buttons. But the obvious value add is the light. I use it for two things: 1) Putting some light on the screen (especially in a windowless office) really does help reduce eye fatigue and lets me keep at my screen for a little longer than otherwise. 2) I like the option to light up my desk surface without the need for an additional - and more cumbersome - desk lamp. I'll use this to review paperwork, read books or annotate articles. Great feature. I also appreciate the different levels of customization on the light. I've opted for a much warmer yellow light, but one can go with something a bit brighter, whiter and more surgical, depending on your tastes. Overall, a great addition for anyone who spends a lot of time at their desk and central work hub.
