Best Bag for Chef's on the go!
I have been a professional cook/chef for 14 years. I've had my own blade set for 8. I have worn out 2 standard knife "roll" bags (name brand) over the years. I decided I had enough of bags without enough room for all my blades & tools. A chef of mine had this bag and liked it so I gave it a try. Yes it is a bit pricey, but well worth it. It has room for 8 larger knives(chef's knives/cleavers) and 8 smaller(paring, boning, filet...). They are all held securely. There is room in the mesh pockets for a variety of miscellaneous tools. I also love the side pockets. They're fitted for writing utensils, business cards, cell phones, etc. I keep all ten of my knives in this bag comfortably (INCLUDING A FULL-BLOWN BUTCHER'S CLEAVER!!) The materials and stitching are heavy duty and are taking all the abuse I put the bag through...The one and only caution I offer is this: I have a 14" slicing blade (BLADE LENGTH, NOT OVERALL) and it fits in this bag. BARELY. I realize that is bigger than comparable blades from other name brand manufacturers. Any way it fits. But if you have anything bigger than that, it might not fit.If you need to transport more than a couple knives/tools for work, or even for dinner-parties, this is THE bag. I spent a lot of time checking out everything out there before I bought this.

If you are not a Chef, please read.
I am a professional Chef and was in the market for a new knife kit. Most of the Chefs that I worked with in the past have owned Ultimate Edge Products and raved about them yet I could never afford them. I came upon this kit and read the reviews. I was dismayed to read a few bad reviews from individuals who purchased this item not really understanding how to use it. Yes, it is for storing and transporting knives and believe it or not, there is a correct way to do this without harming yourself, your knives and the bag. Simply purchase Knife Guards for your knives. This way, you're knives, which will rub against each other, will not chip or cut the bag and you will not get nicked taking a knife out. Also, do not overload the bag in the beginning. Allow the fabric to stretch a little before you bloat the kit with your essentials. Now the review. This is the 10th knife bag I have owned in my 20 year career and it is, by far, the best. The fabric is solid and durable and the zippers tough. I have 8 knives in my bag, along with a cleaver, apron and assorted tools and other stuff I need for my busy day. The front of the bag has 5 pockets for easy access to essential items. I can tell you that this kit is well worth the money you pay for it and will last a long, long time id you take care of it.

Best knife bag I have owned
This bag is perfect, well almost. I hold every knife I own perfectly without any slipping out. Highly recommended. There is one pocket on the front that I think is made for a cell phone maybe but is too small for a phone unless you perhaps have a flip phone. I carry 14 knives, my Benriner Wide mandolin, sharpies, pens, extra blades and guard for my mandolin and still have plenty of room for 4 more knives and accessories. This indeed is the best bag I have owned.I have seen a lot of reviews on it about the zippers breaking but honestly, if this happens, I will contact the seller. I'm sure they are willing to replace if the defect is the bag and not the owner. They are people just like you and me trying to make a living so it would be nice to give them a huge thanks as I am doing now. THANKS for carrying the nicest bag I have owned for my chef tools. I have owned bags from Wusthof to Ergo Chef that weren't as good of quality as this. I would definitely recommend this to any chef/cook who is serious about keeping your knives. Just remember that this isn't hard plastic so be sure to pick up your knife guards. :)

1st impression
Searched a lot for a carrying case as I begin my culinary schooling. I decided on this and so far, so good. Will start using this for culinary school in 2 weeks. Didn't want to buy the school kit as I had pretty much everything I'd need, except for the case. Seems very durable, holds a ton of knives and long utensils. Velcro flaps hold them in place. Shoulder strap is front and back, which is nice. 1 large zip mesh pocket in the back section, and one small. Could be enough for accessories...not sure yet. Haven't packed it fully, but I'm worried about my measuring cups. Plenty of spaces in front for your cell, ipod, pens, keys, etc. Seems very durable; zippers work very well. Will update after I use for a month or 2.

Unexpected use
Keep reading after the first sentence:I actually use this case to hold drumsticks. As a gigging drummer, I wanted something that would hold and organize my sticks, and would also have room for additional odds and ends that a drummer would need in an emergency. Over the past year, this case has been thoroughly abused, and it has held up. The elastic that holds the drumsticks (of knives in your case) remains tight and keeps everything in its place. The case has been filled and over-filled with gear, and I have not had a single issue with a zipper in any way. It's been thrown in trunks, kicked around, and nearly crushed, but there's not a single stitch out of place. Aside from just the slots for sticks or knives, there are pockets enough for business cards, a pad and pen, and see-through mesh pockets that hold all sorts of little odds and ends. Whether you're using this for its intended purpose or as a heavy duty drumstick gig bag, I promise you that it will hold up to whatever you can throw at it.
