Best range exhaust fan I’ve found.
I have a downdraft range exhaust system (see photos) next to my kitchen range which does a decent job removing cooking orders and grease but definitely has its limitations. This is especially true when using a splatter guard. The guard prevents the downdraft exhaust system effectively catching smoke, grease and odors, but with the Range Hood’s base extension the splatter guard is no longer is an impediment to odors, grease and smoke being removed. I have used the AirHood Wired Range Hood twice this past week and am very pleased with its performance. A good purchase; the AirHood is now a permanent part of my kitchen arsenal. Update: Still giving the AirHood Wired Range Hood 5 stars. I went back and looked at the most negative reviews, and some valid observations. The Range Hood is noisy as I expected it would be, especially given the substantial carbon and steel mesh filters. Even used along with my downdraft exhaust fan, odors escape (open floor plan in my home). Noise level too high to carry on a conversation with someone else in the kitchen, but then I am a solo cook - no one else allowed in the kitchen when I am cooking.

Kitchen help.
Works well for smoke, helps a little with cooking aromas. Over a good product, but quite loud

Too Expensive For Too Little Results
We ordered this exhaust fan based on a Consumer Report recommendation. Whereas our experience with CR has always been great, this one is a big loser. It is unique and we loved the design but it's got to have good utility and this exhaust fan falls way too short. First, the design is clumsy with the power cord being difficult to replace in the base for storage. Second, the noise makes it very difficult to use while cooking if you want to talk in the kitchen, watch TV or listen to music. The third problem is that it just doesn't work well. The suction doesn't move cooking smoke and it is completely ineffective in clearing cooking odors. Since we purchased this specifically for removing cooking odors, it's too expensive not to return.

Great Product that works perfectly.
I have a smaller kitchen where I am unable to put a fan or vent over the stove. When cooking, especially frying, many times I have set off the smoke detectors no matter how many windows I have open. I had read about this fan unit and finally decided to spend the money, knowing if It didn't work I could return it. Well I am so glad to tell you this works far better then I expected. Easy to set up, easy to store next to the stove and works beautifully! I can deep fry anything and there is no smoke at all! I don't even have to open the windows or kitchen door. Well worth the purchase.

Easy to set up and use
The Airhood was easy to set up, but I did need to go on-line to look for directions on the charcoal filter. It was easy to find it on-line, but it was missing in the operator's manual. The hood is light-weight so I use it, clean it and then put it in a cabinet as I don't like a lot of clutter on the counter top. It is compact so it's no problem to store it elsewhere if you, like me, don't like clutter. I got the Airhood because I have an over-the-range microwave/hood combination and I have never been satisfied with it. The microwave/hood combo doesn't filter smells at all and it was marginal on grease. I have only used the Airhood a few times but it seems to do a much better job than the microwave/hood combo.

Compact and worth it
What a great find! Takes up so much less space than the fan we were using, and no need to prop a door open in freezing temperatures! The noise is noticeable but not terrible, and so worth it for the amount of smoke and odor it takes from the air.

Does Not Remove Smell and Jet Engine Loud
Flashy design , packaging, and marketing for a product that will probably be used 2-3 times and then put in the basement and finally the garbage. The kitchen still smelled of food even though it was right next to the burner I was using. Glad the plastic case did not melt from the stove heat. The package included a cute little note from the designer. Like that was going to impress me. The note should have said “Please Stay In Your Seats and Keep Your Seatbelts On Until We Have Reached Cruising Altitude “ because the thing is as loud as a jet engine. Dont expect to talk in the kitchen while it is on. You might be able to yell over the sound but would need to be an extremely loud yell. This product gets two thumbs down rating!!!

It helps
It’s a little bit odd, but my kitchen did not have any sort of vent system for the stove. Rather than a major remodel to put a downdraft system through the basement and out the wall, I thought I would try this product. It is better than nothing. Not a lot better, but a little. The noise isn’t that bad compared to other built-in vent hoods that do not vent to the outside. Because it’s a little better than nothing I will keep using it, but I sure would like to find a better product that doesn’t require punching a hole in the wall for venting.

This works pretty well. I put it on top of a stand to get it close to my wok. Powerful. Easy to clean. Quite loud, though. It’s essential when cooking Cantonese food in a wok without a range hood.

Works okay. Replacement filters unavailable. A lot of money for not being able to get replacement filters
