Just Right.
Most Master's products, and I've tried them all, aren't much to write home about. They are quite inexpensive, so no harm done, but they just don't have any dimension to them or something.I must admit though that they really nailed the Bay Rum.Bay Rum is strange stuff - you can put 20 different "Bay Rums" next to one another, and most of them won't resemble each other to any great extent. I suppose that what I'm saying is that the nature of "Bay Rum" aftershave is a very subjective moving target, so you sort of need to use several to figure out which--if any--you like. Here is why I like Master's product:1) It's very cheap.2) It doesn't burn so much on bad shave days.3) It has a very straightforward clean smell.4) It doesn't overpower.Sometimes after a shave you just want something to tighten up your pores and maybe let you know you're clean. That's what this stuff does. It has a very mild smell that doesn't last forever (I have other aftershaves that do), it doesn't irritate, and it's really hard to put too much on. It's a very good "business as usual" aftershave, one you wear when you're not trying to choke out the entire room.As far as I can tell, it's just straight Bay Rum with water and alchohol. And it smells really good. It's rare to find something so cheap that is also so understated.

Master Well Comb Lilac Vegetol After Shave 15 OZ
This is truly a one of a kind scent. It is lilac but even sweeter-with a touch of rose. Flowery for sure but it doesnt last that long and than it mellows out to just fragrant. No real sting to it and smooths the skin very well. The seller Maya Beauty is a five star seller who should be trusted. This is a quality aftershave. As of 5/12/12 I purchased Master Well Combs Iceland Breeze Aftershave and this is also a quality product. The scent is woodsy but very flowery with a hint of menthol. I like the Boric Acid for an antiseptic kick. I would rate this 5 out of 5. This is the green Iceland Breeze but I hear there is no difference between the green or blue formulation. Leaves my face very smooth and soft. Scent fades fairly quickly like most of the aftershaves Ive tried. Master Well Comb Iceland Breeze After Shave Lotion 15 oz I have now purchased two more Master Well Comb aftershaves the Champagne which is the best so far. Manly Scent which lasts a long time. Bold and Smooth part musk and part powder and flowers. Great smoothing quality. I have also purchased the Topaz which is more of a body splash. Very mild flowery scent and no toning effect.Rating the Four So Far:ChampagneIceland BreezeLilac VegetolTopaz.

Good Stuff
Master Blue is a old fashioned after-shave that is most commonly found in the locker room at a private club. They have it at my club, and my 5 year old thinks it funny to splash this on his cheeks and smell like an old man. Over time it has grown on my and now I like the smell.Unless you're rather aged, you probably don't use this type of aftershave, but its a nice change of pace. Furthermore, the smell never seems to wear off. After an hour of swimming I still can smell it on my fingers. Master Blue comes in a 15 oz. bottle, which is more than enough to share.I plan on passing this down to my first born grand son after he finishes grad school.

good stuff. I tried 4
For the 3 boys and Dad, I bought 4 of these: Lord and Master, Topaz, Bay Rum, Challenge. I put them in small sqeeze bottles so we all got a 2 oz sampler pack. The Topaz is the most citrus and some floral; with no glycerin, it's a dryer experience. It has an old-school vibe. (they all do, but this one big time)The Bay Rum is a rich pleasant bay rum with glycerin, and I think it's better than most others I have tried. It's a little lighter on the clove than some, which is why I like it.The Lord and Master is somewhat understated given its name. It's got a little musk and a little woody spice and a little flower. Also with Glycerin. My siter-in-law liked that one best on her man. It's probably named Lord and Master because it incorporates the smell spectrum in a blend. The Challenge is the woodiest of the 4, though it's hinted in the L&M. It has glycerin, too.Of all the 4 I think the Bay Rum is the most classic of the old-school aftershaves, and won't let you down. The Challenge is probably my favorite, as I like the musk and wood-spice. It makes me feel macho. The Topaz is pleasant, but I am going to stick to the flavors with Glycerin. The Lord and Master is very popular, but did not work for me smell-wise.I hope this is helpful.

Barber Shop
This is the classic smell of a barber shop!

OK, but not very lilac-ish
It's OK, but I don't think it smells much like lilac. It does have a smell that I associate with a barbershop, though not as much as (or remotely the same as), say, the Mama Bear's Soaps Ye Olde Barbershop shaving soap. Maybe I'll like it after I use it some more and see how it works right after a shave. It fades after a while on my neck and face (which is fine), though I do did notice that it seems to last a while on my fingers.Update (5/5/17): I don't like it any better. I suppose it works all right as an aftershave, but the smell annoys me. YMMV.5/31/17: The scent's growing on me.

Strong Lilac fragrance
I've used Pinaud Lilac Vegetal for years. I bought this out of curiosity. It's really different. When I put some on, it smells like lilac soap. Then it settles down and starts to smell great. It's stronger and lasts longer. I'll buy some more, I think. Lilac water has always brought back memories of old barber shops. After buying more, I'm satisfied that it's what I want.

It’s old school...... love it!
My barber uses this on my neck after she cleans my neck up with a straight razor. I tend to smell lavender when she sprays it.I decided to try it out and it is intense when it’s first applied. Hence old school. It’s a badge of honor after a shave. The scent is awesome.
