I picked up this color to expand my Daniel Smith watercolor collection, and I’m so glad I did. Neutral Tint has always been one of my favorite grays because of how effortlessly it can shade, darken, and de-saturate other colors. I already own a neutral tint from another reputable brand, but I was curious to try Daniel Smith’s version due to its semi-transparent quality. After comparing them (see photos), the differences are clear: Daniel Smith’s Neutral Tint is noticeably lighter in value and non-staining, which gives it a softer, more adaptable feel on the page. It’s easy to lift, easy to layer, and blends beautifully without overwhelming other pigments. A great addition to any palette if you love versatile, easy-to-use grays.

Sodalite is one of my new favorite watercolors. The granulation is beautiful; it’s worth the price.

Sodalite is like ground up blue jeans...very dark, very grainy, very blue. How does it get any better than that? I usually mix it with French Ultramarine, or sometimes add it to staining colors to give them some texture. This does not have the tinting power of a pthalo blue (thank goodness--that stuff is evil) but I like it a lot. If you like granulating watercolors, give this a try.

Bit of a trick, all the other colours come in the large size, so I thought this was too unfortunately its the tiny tube, no good to me.
