DisplayPort are higt performance connections and need high performance cables. Silkland are just that- High Performance! Advertising talks about HDMI as if it is the best connection. DisplayPort is more advanced technology invented by Apple and the technology behind Thurdebolt connections.

Getting VR to work on a laptop can be a bit of a challenge. After trying a few different adapters I finally found that this one works well for VR. If you're in the same boat I was in, and are trying to run VR on a gaming laptop, make sure the output you're buying the adapter for is wired to the dedicated graphics. In my situation, the HDMI and the USBC were only wired to the integrated graphics card. You can check this on the Nvidia Control Panel (if you have a Nvidia card that is).

Just what I needed

I got this adapter specifically because I swapped a monitor that used full sized display port for the G8 OLED Ultrawide that uses miniature versions of DP and HDMI and I didn't want to run new cables from my system to this monitor. The adapter feels solid and well built. It does the full 3440x1440p HDR @ 175hz native output for my monitor. I haven't noticed any dropouts or odd connection issues. I'd buy it again if I have another monitor that uses mini DP.

It works perfectly and the quality is of a high standards, can't go wrong with this one.

I got this so I could use my Rift S headset with a gaming laptop that only had mini-DP but not full size DP and it worked perfectly! Beware that you will need to restart your computer most likely if you are using this for a Rift S, and that the mini-DP connector goes through your dGPU (the nvidia or AMD GPU) and not through the CPU's own graphics chip, otherwise it won't work.
