I had a plastic version that worked well for several years but eventually cracked due to being in full sun in the morning hours. This metal one replaced it. I did have to put up shade cloth over this one, the metal heats up quite a bit more in the sun than the plastic one did. Works great.

Im giving this a 4 star only because the float is cheap & does not work. You need to design a more sturdy float..the rest of the product is excellent. Im recommending this to my barn owner, as we have 85 horses on the property & the waterers are old. We have the replacement floats..but we would pay a few $$ more for better floats. I am really impressed with the quality & sturdynes of the bowl. My horses break them all the time..

Great product for the price. Extremely durable and easy to install and maintain. Has kept my dog from drinking from the hot tub, if not the birdbath.

Works great as an automatic waterer for my chickens. It's much easier to clean than previous models I’ve used that have a separate compartment for the float. I haven't had any problems so far. I like that it came with a new floater; those tend to wear out quickly. I haven't needed to replace mine. I've been using this for about 8 months.

Routinely have issues w float adjustments, on 2 units, purchased at different times. One for chickens, 1 for goats. Gets too dirty too frequently for chicken coops. Works out ok for stalls other than float adjustments (overflows).

Works great for dogs! Instructions weren’t super helpful but it was easy enough to figure out logically and with the photos.

The metal bowl itself is sturdy, but the automatic waterer mechanism/float and the hose are very cheaply made. I bought three of these to install in my barn for the horses and all three had some sort of issue within a couple weeks. The first on the hose was leaking out of the nut - there was a small hole in the metal. On the other two the plastic float had a seam, where the bit that screws into the mechanism was, that was split apart just a little making it take on water inside the float so the automatic mechanism wouldn't shut off. I tried to seal the hole, but the whole piece ended up breaking off.
