Was not happy, and returned immediately. The distance from the neck cradle to the head rest was way off. I had to hold basin on a tilt while friend washed my sister’s hair.

This hair wash basin works very well for bed bond persons.

I’ve never written a review before but today is the day! I want to encourage caregivers to buy this basin. My 86 year old mother finds joy in having her hair shampooed. She says it’s comfortable on her neck. She relaxes and soaks in the pampering! We do not use the drain hose. It works well to just pour warm clean water over her head from another basin and then dump it when done. Such a simple thing yet an enormous gift for my mom to feel good and loved on.

This purchase was made for a patient who needed her hair washed without being able to get into the shower. As other reviewers have stated, the clear basin idea itself is pretty brilliant, far better than the inflatables, IMO, however we also found the drainage hose to be very flimsy, and having used it four or five times we are looking for a much more durable hose, without any success btw, because the sizes are metric. The "trick" to using the basin is to place a pillow folded in two under the patient's upper back to even out the way the neck interacts with the basin. The drain hose is then rounted to a basin (in our case a plastic trash can). First you wash the hair using the enclosed dipper to wet, wash, and rinse; next open the drain plug and drain the first rinse water. Repeat the rinsing using the dipper and drain a second time, until the hair has no soap residue. Next, raise the head of the bed upright, while removing the basin, and towel wrap and dry as usual - we follow up this with an electric hair dryer, being certain that there is no splashed water anywhere! You can help this by using a thick towel at the head of the bed, and removing the flimsy hose into the catch basin. When you raise the head of the bed it will be necessary to remove the basin as the head of the bed begins to raise; I do this alone but a third hand might be helpful if a second person is there. All told, an excellent device (I am a retired nurse) that is a newer design, comfortable for the patient, and useful, all except for that paper-thin flimsy hose, which I am quite sure will break in the very near future. Without a better drain hose the process will likely then require two people to get the job done, just an FYI.

Great product. My wife has Alzheimer’s and this is the only way I can wash her hair. She was less anxious and less time consuming.
