What is the difference between the rs03k and rs06k aside from $66?

What is the com port used for? is it not used for wan?

I have not used the COM port but it is not used for the WAN connection - I assume it is for console access to the device using a tty or dumb terminal type connection similar to a Cisco RJ45 connector cable. Unfortunately I did not get any documentation with my device but was able to configure it because it came with pfsense installed and running out of the box.

Are there mounting slots on the bottom of this unit such that you can wall mount it, like most routers/switches/etc?

There are holes in the bottom for putting screws in but I would imagine you would want to use these for mounting the sata drive. I had a really hard time getting my sata ssd to stay put. Most mini pc's would have a little slot right there for a 2.5 inch but this one doesn't have anywhere for you to actually put the sata drive. I used the holes to put in some screws that the sata drive connects to to hold in place. Better than nothing but I'd imagine you can use these to also mount it. It doesn't come with a mount though, and these are REAL heavy so you'll want to invest in good mount and make sure it's not gonna mount on a monitor or something, far too heavy for that type of mounting location in my opinion. FYI I got the bare bones so it could be possible that a non bare ones could come with a slot for the sata drive. But mine did not.
