OMG!!! A Stunning Visual Experience
The Sony BRAVIA XR-42A90K is an outstanding television that truly delivers on every level. The picture quality is breathtaking, with deep, rich blacks and vivid, lifelike colors that make watching anything feel immersive. The OLED technology shines through, and the XR Cognitive Processor takes everything to the next level with incredible clarity and detail. The sound quality is equally impressive. The Acoustic Surface Audio+ feature ensures that sound comes directly from the screen, creating a more realistic and engaging experience. Whether you're watching movies, sports, or your favorite series, it feels like you're right there in the action. The design is sleek and modern, fitting perfectly into any living space. The compact size of the 42-inch model is ideal for smaller rooms without compromising on quality. It's also packed with features like HDMI 2.1, making it perfect for next-gen consoles, and the Google TV interface is intuitive and easy to navigate. Overall, the BRAVIA XR-42A90K is a top-tier television that offers incredible value for its price. Sony has truly outdone itself with this model, making it an excellent choice for anyone looking to upgrade their home entertainment setup. Highly recommended!

So y Bravia 8
I as a bit quick to review this tv the first time I switched it on but since then it’s had an update and tweaked a few settings and I’m very happy with it now nice clear bright picture

Impressive performance
This television is no ‘budget model’ so you expect it to be good, and it doesn’t disappoint. Colours are sharp, bright and natural and the sound, without a sound bar added, is impressive. We wanted something that would stand on a corner unit, without completely dominating the room. It also had to be viewable from a number of seating positions, on these issues it ticked all the boxes. Netflix and Amazon streaming services are accessible from the handsets, of which there are two. Why two? To be honest you will need both to do different things, though that does seem a little odd. Setting up was simple enough using the quick setup guide, so you shouldn’t have much of a problem here. I did have an issue with the Bravia Core app. which I discovered was being blocked by the parental settings of my broadband service, but Sony were very helpful in putting things right. The navigation system is a tad less user friendly than on my Samsung Smart TV, but that may just be because I am used to using it. I pondered awarding four stars, but it is of such a high quality picture and sound at the price point, it deserves the full quota,

Good when it works
Whilst this a quality item with very good picture quality, it has suffered from multiple crashes and reboots, often going into a reboot loop and it will not turn on until unplugged. Unacceptable for such an expensive tv. Despite running the latest software it still does this and is a common fault. I would not buy this again. When it is working it’s a very capable TV but requires a soundbar to get decent sound quality so another cost. Edited review as the crashing loop appears to be resolved following a software update.

Oustanding Oled TV
Outstanding 55" oled smart TV. Bought to replace an 8year old LG 55B7V which is also excellent but doesn't have e-ARC so wouldn't work with a Sennheiser £900 soundbar. (Not the tv's fault - Sennheiser should have made sure a premium soundbar workd with older TVs, hence the soundbar was returned). The remote is not good - the volume buttons are too close to the end that you hold. Sony you need to stop penny pinching with these.

Great TV shame about the plug.
TV lives up to expectations with regards to picture and sound quality. However i have a few niggles. 1 - The power cable is relatively short and sealed at both ends preventing you feeding it through any consealed ducting. 2- The second issue is the setting up. It's far too complicated, focusing on streaming services. At the end of what I thought was set up I still hadn't got terrestrial TV and had to do that manually from settings. I should have just started with that. It took an hour or more to get up and running. Any other TV would be less than 10 minutes. 3 - Thirdly the minimalist remote has a great weighty feel which I like but changing channel is a pain. Google assistant seems to not realise bbc has an hd version and sends you to the bbc radio rather than TV channel no matter what variation of description you give it. To get to hd otherwise you need to navigate through the menu at the bottom of the screen. In that regard the more traditional remote wins hands down. 4- The recording feature via USB needs a large USB stick. It says 32gb up but when I tried with 32 it said it had little space and wouldn't work. I'm about to try with Tb to see whether that works. Hopefully it will. The TV did however pick up all my services (such as media server) with minimal input from me, and on a basic portable aerial seems to have no difficulty receiving a hd signal. Having got over the jnitial hurdles and familiarisation I am very pleased.

No connection
Sadly, I was unable to maintain a stable connection to either WiFi or ethernet. Wasted hours trying.
