Our product design is not cut the slits. The purpose is to satisfy more ferment needs. All Fermentation enthusiasts know there will be bubbles in the pre-fermentation, which can not be sealed, the bubble is produced in the late fermentation, which is the need to seal! If you are going to ues this lid apply in the pre-fermentation stage, please cut the slits on the dome what shape just you want. It is possible with any ferments to occasionally get a bit of mold on the top. Molds are everywhere. Should that happen! So you just scrape off that top layer and toss it. The rest will be fine. The dome is designed for the mold to be better cleaned. It is perfect for later fermentation storage. There are 5 pieces in a package so as to perfect satisfy more ferment moments.
