First mini pc and glad I chose Minisforum
I never bought a mini pc before and this was the first time. I needed another pc to do work on with a smaller footprint so I decided to look into mini pcs. I researched a littlebit and the reason I chose this was for the 780m and the io ports these suit my needs perfectly. It also looks really great. Minisforum customer service is top notch. I have been using it on and off since I had to travel. I was experiencing bsod and random restarts and I only really began using it after Amazon return deadline. So i decided to contact Minisforum customer service. Their customer service provided me a few fixes to try, but in the end none worked. They told me to send the pc with all the original parts back and they would send me a new one after they confirmed everything. I did just that and only only 2days later I recieved a brand new updated unit! This unit is perfect no more bsod and random restarts. I have my trust in Minisforum now. Will definitely purchase another mini pc from Minisforum in the future if I need to!

Highly recommend
First off, I had issues with WiFi (would randomly disconnect). I did some research and changing the MIMO Powersave mode to "No SMPS" fixed it. Completely fixed the random disconnects. Other than the wifi hiccup, I have had nothing but great experiences with this mini pc. Incredibly fast and smooth. Highly recommend.

Fantastic when it works. Isn't reliable
Works exceptionally well for such a small package and relatively quiet. However it crashes with or without blue screen regularly. This means it can't be used to do work reliably without fear of loss progress due to a crash. Tech support has been unhelpful

Very happy - reliable, fast, trouble free
Well made - I put it up as a server under Linux and 3 months later, not one crash. The thing has not even been powered off yet. Wow. Amazingly fast, well-made.

Worth the money and effort!
My product is up and running. I replaced a large tower I built 6~7 years ago. It had a Ryzen 5 and of course used a standard motherboard, power supply, etc. I was considered pretty fast at the time. I run CAD software on my P.C. and I need speed. This unit is faster, has as much RAM memory and equivalent SSD storage that my tower did, 1gb. I should say I ordered the 790 with 32GB ram and 1TB of disk space. Given I have a lot of programs, CAD and a whole host of other programs to support it, I used a product called Acronis to take the image of my Tower and overlay it in this new P.C. (it's referred to as installing to dissimilar hardware). After I did that I had essentially a clone of my old Tower running on this UM790. Now the difficulty comes. Whenever one installs to dissimilar hardware, the obvious advantage is that you have minimal reinstallation of programs and the headaches that comes with, e.g. license keys, etc. However the install process overwrites the drivers too. So now your new UM790 has a mishmash of "generic drivers" and mismatched drivers. To take care of this issue I downloaded the driver package from the product's website. Much to my dismay, some of the drivers in the package wouldn't install (or reinstall) to put the mini back to factory fresh. The Bluetooth and wifi drivers were incorrect for the hardware used in this UM790 and I had to invoke AI (Chat) to figure it all out. Two full days later I finally got everything up and running. So, just to close this out. Yes, I'm satisfied as this computer saves me a lot of space. It's performance is equal to, or possibly better than what it replaced. It has an adequate number of USB Ports and one can expand them as needed externally. I gave it 4 stars only in that the driver bundle needs to match the hardware. I and to use drivers from Lenovo and from Dell to get the wifi6 and the bluetooth working.

Do it, you wont regret it if on a budget but need max power and performance.
All the above and more. I was skeptical buying the mini-PC, especially after hours of reviews. This one nailed everything I needed and more for my kid. He needed a gaming PC for R6 Siege, random you tubing etc. Out the box it clearly outperformed his old gaming PC that wouldn't update to windows 11. Lightning fast set up, download and play. 120FPS in R6 without even hitting the system max. He was happier than I've seen him while loading up and playing. Will buy again for my other kids. Great value for all you get. Gaming quality and capabilities unmatched for price. Thank you Mini forum.

Generally disappointed
Update: Seems I've identified the source of the stability issues and haven’t had an uncommanded reboot in about 2 days rather than 6+ per day. The issue appears to be related to the USB controller not wanting to go into power saving mode when devices are plugged into the rear USB ports. The problem is not device specific as I can plug the same devices into the usb C port using an adapter without issue. Removing the devices from the rear ports or disabling the USB controller both appear to resolve the issue. I have added a star to the review but cannot go higher as there is still an issue I have to work around and the performance issues along with my general lack of satisfaction have not changed. I have yet to have any response from Minisforum support. I've had this UM790 Pro for about 3 weeks now. For every week that I own it i see to be less satisfied with it. The hardware gives the impression of being solid and the industrial design is good except for a few quirks. The rubber feet over the cover access screws and the odd arrangement for removing that cover could be better but these are fairly minor nitpicks. The real problems I have with this device is the performance. CPU performance seems to be OK. Graphics performance is atrocious. Basic tasks that run fine on a 4 year old laptop with an intel processor and integrated graphics max this GPU out. Any task that relies the GPU to any degree seem to struggle. A basic browser session frequently fails to render. As far as the software goes the BIOS/UEFI is quirky at best. Attempting to use this in a dual boot configuration turned out to be more hassle than it was worth. Using the win 11 download from their site should be approached with caution. It is easy to use which means you have no control over which drive it boots to, the partition layout or any other setup option. If you have any data on a second drive be prepared for it to be reformatted. About a week or so ago it started randomly rebooting. No error indicated in the event logs, just reboots. I've run this under both Linux (Fedora) and Windows 11 and the performance is consistent with both operating systems. The only surprise was that Linux detected all of the hardware correctly which is unusual. I replaced the SSD with 2 units from a brand I have high confidence in but otherwise the device is as received. There is no signs of a thermal or fan control issue. The reboots can happen at any time but often occur when the machine is sitting idle rather than when it is under load. I've also had frequent issues with the USB ports and the bluetooh performance is hilariously bad. My plan was to use this machine as a daily driver involving running virtual machines and light development tasks but the performance and instability make it unsuited for the job. The instability means I cannot even use it as a server, a role fulfilled recently by much cheaper intel based mini-pcs from another OEM. I had high hopes for this machine but it is rapidly becoming the nicest paperweight on my desk.
