Pretty nicely made and improves the quality of the pour
I'm using my electric kettle to heat the water and transfer it to the Hario for the pour. Very controlled over using the electric kettle but not sure it makes any noticeable difference in the quality of the coffee itself. Tastes the same but this is more elegant than the electric kettle and fun to use. Update August 2, 2024: I've now owned this kettle going on eight months. I long ago stopped doing what's written in the initial review and now heat the water on the small burner on my glass top electric range. It's just easier. The kettle is holding up fine, looks new still. I do dry the inside after use so water doesn't remain. A paper or kitchen towel does the trick. No rust, shiny interior and a great kettle for pourover. I do not use Hario's filter holder or filters; I use Melitta and have for somewhere around 40 years. No brainer easy to get it right every time. Weigh and grind every time I make coffee. A consistently great cup of coffee. I still don't think there's any major tasteable differency using a gooseneck kettle but it is extremely precise and I love using it.

Works great!
Great kettle. Saw this at Sur La Table for a whole lot more $. It is stainless, however not a super high quality stainless because you can stick a magnet to it. That being said, it woks wonderfully for tea, or a pour over for coffee. Handle and knob stays cool. Enjoy

Very nice and well made kettle
I was in the market to get another kettle as I was getting tired of moving my current gooseneck in and out of the motorhome each time we left, or returned home. I was going to buy the same as i currently have, but the price for the (stovetop) version was ridiculously high, so decided to go with the original Hario Kettle, at 1/2 the piece. And, I am glad I did. This is a very well made, stainless steel kettle with a gooseneck that can pour very slowly, or quickly, depending on the angle of pour. It heats quickly on my gas range and no issue with the handle getting too hot to hole. It can easily hold and heat 1 liter of water, if you want to do a large pour over. This kettle will stay on my gas stove top and the other will reside in my motorhome as the Hario will be my daily driver.

Nice kettle, good quality, basic function
This is a good, well made kettle. I did not see any whistling quality that others have mentioned and assumed it would incorrectly - it does not whistle when water boils. As a result, I somewhat burned the kettle but it works well even discolored. It had no other damage other than turning a different color and the burn marks inside. But it is reliable, reasonably comfortable pours for pour over coffee. Price was reasonable for Japan made imported quality. I didn't perceive as much of a difference as others might except that it is not super thin like some of the chinese imports. Note that even the large may not be as large as many US kettles. It may be large enough for 3-4 cups of water, which is more than fine for me. Check the capacity and remember that the lower goose neck means lower capacity than a full filled to the top kettle.

The nicest tea kettle ever.
This little tea kettle is just what I was looking for. We are senior citizens and enjoy a cup of tea after our dinner. I was looking for something that was sharply made, stainless steel, lite enough to for us to lift once, and most importantly didn’t whistle, because the whistle scares my pussycats and I believe it even hurts their ears. You know the water is hot enough as you can see steam coming from the 3 steam holes on the lid. Just a very nice tea kettle for 2 to 4 cups of tea. Very well made directly from Japan who love their tea. We love it.

well designed, well made, and a pleasure to use
Very sturdily and elegantly made, and heats water fast because of the conical shape. You know the water is boiling when the lid pops up and jingles — such a huge improvement over a piercing whistle that makes you want to claw your own ears off.

Impressed
I’ve read reviews about the Hario for awhile, and the glowing reviews are correct. I got the 1.2L version and it’s the perfect size. Not too big at all, and heats water fast. Be sure to read the instructions for some helpful tips about extending the life of the kettle. Also, you’ll probably need to tighten the lid top when you get it if it is loose. After that, it works flawlessly and looks fantastic on your stovetop. I’m really glad it doesn’t whistle. You can hear when the water is boiling easily. Pouring from the kettle is an elegant experience.

Perfect drip kettle
This is pretty small sized drip kettle that I have been using for a while. Build quality is good, not magnificent but good. Good value for money especially if you are looking into getting a small sized kettle.
