Are these bulbs back lit? My fixture has frosted globes that glowed with halogen bulbs

I don’t know what a backlit bulb is so sorry

Do these bulbs allow some light to the sides? My fixtures are frosted glass on the sides to allow a glow and open in the front for direct light.

I too have frosted shades around my light bulb & these do have a fairly wide spand of white light.

If the lights will not dim it may be because the dimmer switch is old and/or not compatible with the LED bulb.

What is the lowest light output? i.e. how bright are they when the dimmer is turned all the way down, but not off?

For me, the light is too bright when the dimmer is turned all the way down. I wanted to use them as a night light and to leave them on when I leave for work before sunrise. I’ll get lower wattage next time.
