No lightfastness ratings found. Fun, inexpensive box of paints for crafts and experimental projects.
I usually don't buy this type of product, but my latest creative project (gel printing) drew a reflex in me (of the "be careful not to waste expensive materials " type), and ordinarily I would then only buy a few tubes in basic colors. But then after looking at my options, I chose this one because, hey, it's 100 colors, including fluorescents and metallics. So I took a chance and placed my order. It's a pretty impressive box of paint when lifting out 5 separate plastic trays full of tubes in every imaginable color. To be frank, it will take me a while to work through the bunch of them; I haven't searched any of them yet, outside of a little dabbing here and there, but I did do some basic inquiry motivated by curiosity. Some of the color names on the labels you will likely never see or hear in art school, such as a rather high key yellow that's simply marked "Cheese". The metallic yellow in the box is within the same tonal value, same high key, and it's actually very nice, and even reminds me of some homemade cheese I once was served that had a similar luminous quality to it, so I can see where the idea for the name came from. I did draw a little bit of "Cheese" onto a bit of paper to see how long it took to dry, but I got sidetracked, so the only answer I've got is that it's in line with how acrylics typically behave, which is to say that they dry pretty quickly. In fact, I'm pretty sure that I checked it when my subconscious clock told me it should be dry, just as I always seem to be able to catch things before they boil over or burn, etc, very useful traits when you have children, but I digress. I haven't found any reference to lightfastness during the purchasing process, nor is anything of the sort written on the box, but that's not of primary importance to me at this point. Later, if the Louvre approaches me about archiving my fantastic art pieces for posterity, I'll start worrying about the archival qualities of my materials, but for now, I'm just playing and experimenting. If anyone decides they want to buy a print, I'll explain about the lack of info about lightfastness and price my work accordingly, and if people really like it, I've got a lot of lightfastness paints that will then be called into play. To fellow paint dabblers and artists, this seems to be an excellent bang for the buck, and I will update if or when anything happens that I think is worth mentioning, either bad or good, but my gut feeling is that this is a great deal on some decent paint for whatever project you want to explore. If you're signing up for a college art class, this probably isn't your set. Go with a brand that offers the basic colors that are required as per the list that you will likely be given at the start of the course because with those basic colors you'll be learning how to mix all colors. To the manufacturer, if you're looking to expand to a more professional market, publish the details of lightfastness on your advertising and on the box. Anyone who is producing work for selling or display (which includes art and crafts, signage and decor, etc) is going to want to have some idea of how long it will last, which their buyers appreciate, so they want products and materials that they can trust. Lightfastness very often determines the choice of materials for any artist. This looks to be a fun box to play with, and you might be content with that, but I have a paintbox/easel built by Meeden that tells me that you understand quality and function, and it was the sturdiness and usefulness of that box that compelled me to try 100 colors of your paint. I think I'm probably typical of many artists insofar as I'm often too busy or preoccupied to look up lightfastness ratings on websites or general searches, so if you do make the move to provide that info, put it right out there, up front, plus provide links to where to find it on your website.

A Phenomenal Purchase
These are some quality acrylics. They dry slowly and blend wonderfully. The tubes are bigger than I expected, and having 100 colors to choose from is just awesome. For $40, this feels like a steal. I am very happy with this purchase.

Great variety and high quality paint
There are so many colors, including different opacities and metallics. I’ve used them on paper and wood surfaces and couldn’t be happier with the quality.

Feels like high end paint
LOVED working with these. They blend so well and they’re perfectly pigmented and don’t get too watered down when mixed with water. Fast drying and they have a beautiful finish after dried. I haven’t painted with acrylic in years and wanted to pick it back up again without spending a lot on paint, as I have probably lost technique over the years, but this paint was so pleasant to work with. Truly artist quality without the high price tag. If you’re a beginner painter, or like me who just enjoys painting for hobby and doesn’t have the money to blow on expensive paints, I highly recommend these as they feel like you’re working with high grade acrylic.

Vivid colors
Texture is great, good variety. I really love the neons! So vivid. Even though they are heavy bodied it still required more than one coat for most of my projects. But overall a great paint!

Very Pleased So Far
I'm fairly new to needing some paint for craft and art projects. One of the tutorials I watched suggested this set, but said it had "tiny" tubes. I looked it over, popped it into my cart, with the idea of "thinking" about it. A few days later, it had been marked down 20%. That did it! If there was ever a sign that the time was now to nab it: there it was. It arrived perfectly, and I was thrilled with the vast, rather dazzling variety of colors. Yes, the tubes are small but by no means tiny, IMO. And, being as there are 100 of them, you have a very sturdy amount of paint for what turned out to be a little over $43 with tax. I mean, there's TONS here. As I tested out my Gelli plate, I had in front of me 5 large trays of choices! Yikes. It was nearly too much. LOL I love this. I can't speak to if this would all work for you, because I'm fairly new experiencing this. BUT - if you are looking for a REALLY extensive variety of colors, if you want lots of paint color variety for the kids this summer, if you are starting out doing some painting - I've seen some reviews saying that they love it for mixing their own custom colors....I honestly don't know how you can miss at the current price of 46 cents a tube. Even at full price, it's still only a little over 50 cents. Heck, the super organized box/trays are worth that! I checked, and if you sample a color you love, you can find it here in larger sizes. This set is nothing if it's not a journey to discover what you love - which is what art is all about. So, I recommend it - absolutely. :)

Great paints!
Absolutely love these paints! Very creamy, opaque requiring only one coat coverage, but thins easily for a more transparent coverage without ‘curdling’ as some acrylics will do. Bought a set for my granddaughter for doing paint by numbers. These replace their colors provided which are always cheap with poor coverage, which can be so frustrating for her. I use them for acrylic underpainting under oils. Easy to blend and create colors, smooth and easy to work with.

Working pretty well on my miniature. Seems to be just as good as some of the other paints I have. For the price and range of colors you get its 100% worth it.
