Is 21x29.5cm not too small for use as a placemat?

Mine is 30 x 40 cm and is just right for me.

I have a gloss table will these scratch the surface?

I used mine on a high gloss oak table and they were fine. Sadly had to give up using them as very heavy and I have arthritis in my hands and wrists.

Can they be used as chopping board and are dishwasher safe.

They are smaller than a chopping board so not practical. They have little feet and are quite heavy so I personally would not use in a dish washer. I find them very useful, I have wooden worktops so use these as protection eg hot drinks cups or hot saucepans, they are very useful, wipe with wet cloth back to normal. Hope this helps.
