Great value when I bought

I bought this a few months ago for under $60. It was a very good value and by far the cheapest option and I didn’t even have to consider looking for a more reasonably-priced used option. Now the price is $130 to over $200 depending on which seller you choose on Amazon, and the used option here is actually more expensive than the lowest new price also on Amazon. At that price there are many other similar products that offer various different advantages. Maybe a lower price, or higher power on the upstream port (85 or 96 watts compared to the 65 watts of this Kensington 2600T). But assuming you can get this for what I spent, it offers basically the same features as most other thunderbolt 4 hubs. And unless you require more power delivery, or want more USBA ports directly on the hub and reduce having to provide a separate USBA hub, this does the same thing as all other hubs. They are all mostly based on the same reference designs and isn’t much difference between this one upstream TB4 three downstream TB4 one downstream USB3 configuration.I got this for my Mac Mini M4 and it works great. No need to consider power delivery ratings there. I had to get a different product that does 96 watt power delivery for my Macbook Pro with M2 Max so it can provide closer to the 140 watts the laptop actually needs at full use, but this Kensington probably can handle the power load most of the time. One downside is the utilitarian industrial look, but a longer cable can sort that out. I have mine under the desk and don’t have a need to access the device or any of the ports once I got everything set up.

Practically Perfect for Most Use Cases at a Great Price

As with all things USB-C and Thunderbolt related the varying capabilities between your computer(s), dock, and devices will mean that almost nothing can be a silver bullet. That said, this little device is very close for a very reasonable price (under $60 in early 2025).The Good- $20 or more cheaper than docks of nearly identical functionality.- If you have Thunderbolt 3 or USB/Thunderbolt 4 this will mostly likely connect as many devices as your computer can support*. Unique to this type of hub/dock is the support for multiple extended displays for Mac computers.- Connected displays do not need to be Thunderbolt which means passive adapters (such as a Type-C to HDMI or DisplayPort dongles) are supported - even for multiple extended displays on Mac computers.- 65W upstream device (computer) charging is class-leading (similar docks I have tested only support 60W).- Metal body gives the dock a premium feel.- Adapter is lighter slimmer than similar hubs (but wider as a result).Be Aware (if this is the right device for you these won't be a big deal)- This is only a USB Hub with Charging, you get no other dock features such as a network or audio connections.- Downstream devices support 15W (the minimum for USB-C & Thunderbolt) as is common with such hubs.- There are no mounting options for the dock (as is common).- This uses an external 20V power adapter with a barrel plug. This adapter is bigger than the dock itself.- The dock cannot be powered by the upstream computer or any devices, it must have power from the 20V barrel plug.- The power button only controls the dock and just seems unnecessary overall. The Bad- This device does not provide a multi-stream connection for legacy USB-C devices (i.e. non-Thunderbolt USB 3). This means that when using DP-ALT mode only one monitor can be connected regardless of the resolution or your devices support*. Note that this is common for all devices of this type (since they are likely using the same chips internally), but since it is a common functionality in other USB-C docks I consider this a negative.- Of the docks of a similar size this is slightly larger and definitely the thickest.- While this has a good manual (PDF available online) with detailed specs the web-based details are lacking. Be sure to look at that PDF for full details. The Ironic- Lacks a slot for a security lock (aka a Kensington Slot) as some similar hubs and docks have.* See the attached picture for a proper resolution support table taken from the included manual. I was unable to find one in the specs here or on the Kensington website. Note that this is the maximum the dock can support and that many computers may not support operating this maximum

Lots of power and high speeds

I picked this up for my desk as my laptops and surfaces are TB4. This allows me to utilize the full speed and power of my devices. The amount of ports are great and using the right cables now only does it let ne connect several devices together, it charges quickly.Transfer speeds between my laptop and external SSDs or even between SSDs is quite impressive.

Lots of heat but great Thunderbolt 4 hubs.

It is a great hub, support Thunderbolt 4 devices from eGPU -> DP or direct link 21:9 Ultra wide monitor. Also eGPU connection to PCIE could connect to U2 hard drive. Only problem is the heat. It keep heat up area. I only mark as 4 star compare all.

Great usb c / thunderbolt hub

I use this as a storage hub for my laptop. I have 3 high speed external drives (1 thunderbolt 2 usb c) attached that keep all software I want downloaded but not necessarily on my laptop. It’s been a great solution for me, everything I need when traveling and everything I want available when home

Too good

This was my first experiencing with an entirely USB-C dock. Quality and connectivity options are extremely high, don't like the price fool you. It's a beast of a device...if you have a majority USB-C environment for your desk. This ultimately is what caused me to return it. I bought a USB-C to DP cable, which worked great, but then most of my peripherals were USB-A, which this dock sorely lacks. It was made for 15 years from now, when everything is USB-C. This was my fault, so I can't take away stars for that. Just be aware.

Second unit failed after five weeks. No response from Kensington.

This second unit failed after five weeks on a new Mac Pro - Also was unable to run certain music related items like overbridge, tc electronics controllers and MIDI Plus controllers. All in all extremely disappointing and unable to return. No response from Kensington which was expected.
