Love.
This is such a handy contraption. I must say it does indeed seem a bit overpriced, however, finding the appropriate adapter, faucet switch, length of hose, a matching vac hose, and the stop valve to create your own would be such a hassle, and possibly quite expensive as well. There's a super convenient stop switch at the hoover end, as well as one on the sink end, and it's a lifesaver that the hoover ended one is right on hand to either pause hoovering or pause refilling. It's nice that this has been pre-configured, all set and ready to go. I'm pretty sure what you're paying for is the design of this product, not the materials. It's competitors are all in a similar price range as well.I used it for the first time today. I quickly found the correct screw-on adapter for our kitchen faucet, hooked it up and played around with it to figure out what all the bits do, and I was promptly able to begin my water change. So long as your aquarium is higher up than your faucet, this thing has some SERIOUS suction power. It hoovered 14 litres in about 2 minutes. I'll have to remember to turn the tap down so it's slower next time! Refilling was just as simple. I spent most of the time just getting the water temp right coming out of the faucet before flipping the refill switch, and the rest was a breeze. The whole process is pretty quick, especially compared to the bucket method. We have a separate hot water tank for our mixer tap, and the fish are not bothered at all from any hot water tank contaminants, which was one of my concerns with this. Also remember to dechlorinate your tank for the replacement amount BEFORE pumping in the tap water, otherwise your fish my get some exposure to the chlorine coming in. I personally use seachem prime, which takes care of any heavy metals plus other bits too.Over all a great product, well designed and I'm quite happy with it.

Worth it
We have a 330 litre tank. It's a good product that we would recommend. Came with plenty of tap attachments so didn't need anything etc. It also doesn't have to waste water, once the tap has been turned on the suction of water out of the tank has begun so works fine without running wasted water and you can even take it off the taps and fill a bucket up to clean the filter media. Overall it's a simple and effective product. Definitely agree a thermometer would be a good design function and surely could be included at this price! Would I buy it again? Yes definitely as going out to fetch the garden hose to empty the tank or do water changes was a pain, not to mention frustrating pumping the gravel cleaners to try and get them started. Also storing the long tube was a task and trying to pump the water out when it was near the bottom of the tank, during a previous relocation was near impossible. We have just moved our tank again hence buying this and it was a doddle!

A seal for my aquarium ......cleaner
Came with a number of fittings for the tap to get it working.... however should have come with a rubber washer for in between the universal tap outer compression connector and the white nylon connector before it attaches to the Venturi (that has a washer). Luckily it was over the sink and not spraying out too badly but I’ll have to try and find one even though it should be included in my opinion as there’s no other way to get a seal.Good points - everything else. The quality of the pipes etc was very good, not thin tubing to kink. I could easily adjust the water being drawn in by the valve control by the gravel vac instead of going back to the sink tap. So glad I invested in this, saves so much time. Filling and draining my tank was so easy and quick. The siphon strength was very good without my sink tap all the way on. Filling back up was simple, I ran the tap with a thermometer underneath to get the correct temperature, added prime to the tank, lifted up and turned the tap outlet and in about 5 minutes 100 litres was put back in.Shame about the washer but I’d still buy it again even knowing it needs one bought after. I would recommend to anyone. It’s quicker, saves getting towels out across the floor, and makes it as easy a job as it could ever be.

Great products - my trial and error tips included here
Having spent years lugging heavy buckets of water around, water damaging carpets and aquarium stands, I kick myself for not discovering this sooner. This item is dead simple to operate and has very clear instructions although I would recommend purchasing the brass tap connected as the plastic one it is provided with saw about 8 uses before becoming useless. For those concerned about adding water straight from the tap, I share your concerns. I have tried a couple methods to combat this;1. When adding water back to the tank I took the siphon end and placed it in a 25l water container, I then dosed with water conditioner (mine being Seachem Prime) added a heater and airline to the container and let it mature before adding back to the tank. I had a few containers set up for this function.2. The instructions claim that water is aerated as it is added from the tap, I believe this to be partially true so used a syringe to slowly add drops of Prime as the water re entered the tank. Once the tank was full I then dosed with water conditioner for the whole size of the aquarium. To make sure that any untreated water did not enter the filter and kill the good bacteria I shut off the Aqua-Stop valve on my Fluval 306. After dosing with Prime and allow the water to circulate for a time I then turned the filter back on.The second method was the easiest and I feel confident that it is safe for the fish, I keep Discus and they do not appear to be affected by this.
