If Your Seeking A NON-Touchscreen Unit That Has All The Newest Features An Compatibility to use Handsfree with Android or iPhone Systems, You’d Be Hard-pressed to find a Better Head Unit for The Money. The Pros Are Plentiful With This Unit. From Multiple Outputs, Programmable EQ, Subwoofer Output With Built in Crossover Frequencies ( for those whom don’t have a Stand alone Unit paired with their amplifier), an the Display’s 3 Zone Color Selection. The Cons Are It Has Excessive Commands That Are Unnecessary Such as “ Speaker Size, Vehicle type, an A Dozen Other That Aren’t Useful “. A Very Cheesy plug in “Rear Of the Radio” Speaker for Bluetooth Calling, that Has to be Mounted Somewhere Close to the Driver after Routing the Cable ( Most Vehicles Will have a Speaker Setup That can be Tapped Instead to utilize ). Lastly Maybe the Biggest Factor For Most Will be It Does Not Have A LED Screen Display for Video/Fr-Rr Cameras/Navigation. You Can However add A Screen for Either or Even Both, with the Available Pre-outs. The Excessive Unnecessary Features May Complicate Many, However Once you Tweak To Your Personal Preferences You’ll be Quite Happy with the Sound You Can Achieve. Has All the Features an Option’s Your Looking For Such as Subwoofer Output Which Has A Feature Adjustable Frequency Crossover that Would Be Handy for Someone whom Didn’t Have One on their Amplifier or Paired With their Amplifier, As Well as the Common Adjustable Gain for The Subwoofer Output. Has The Common Pre Set EQ’s, as Well as a Customizable EQ That Will Suit you Well. It’s a great sounding stereo. I have no problem pairing it with my phone using a usb cable. If you’re looking for a new car stereo I recommend this one.

Excellent stereo. I love how it automatically connects to my phone for Bluetooth music when I start my truck. Installed in a 2011 Dakota extended cab. An adapter is required for Chrysler vehicles.

Definitely recommend this unit. The price is worth it for the quality. I’ve had many cheap stereos and I feel like I have wasted several hundred dollars on them compared to this Kenwood.

I was replacing a DPX500BT unit hoping that this updated unit would be similar with upgraded functions as advertised. However, some of the changes do not appear better. First, the install will not be plug and play from the old unit. The pinning is different and requires a fresh install. Additionally, there are 2 less pins from the old unit. This created some confusion as to which wires to not terminate. Second, pressing the volume knob no longer attenuates. This is a function I used to use frequently. Pressing the volume knob now enters the setting. There is no longer a way to attenuate. Third, the unit features clock syncing. Originally, I thought this would be linked to the Bluetooth of the phone, but instead it is linked to FM radio. I don't know how exactly how it pulls from the radio, but in my area the clock syncs 5 minutes too fast. Sometimes, it's off by hours depending on where I am driving. In other words, I have to disable this feature if I want the correct time. Fourth, the functionality of the auto dimmer is unreliable. Apparently, there is an AM and PM setting for different brightnesses along with additional dimming. However, there were times when I was trying to adjust the brightness in the evening and the day time brightness is what made the change. I ended up turning off the feature and left it at one brightness. Similarly, the color selection doesn't have the same colors as the 500BT unit. I try to match the green light scheme in my vehicle, and the shade is no longer quite correct. Although this was supposed to be an upgrade, I wish my old unit was still working. Kenwood miss the mark on this one with too many features that need to be turned off.

I didn’t want a touchscreen and I didn’t realize they actually had one of these that was Excelon, so in case any of you were wondering it does make a difference so after going back and looking again, I did find one of these. I believe I did anyways and I’m not totally unhappy, but I do notice a difference, but I just wanted away from the touchscreen so badly, but I went for this and it was half the price of the other one. It looks just like this that is an excelon model, And Not knowing if there was really a difference, I would’ve gladly paid that Higher price for A higher level of sound quality, it’s not huge, but it’s definitely there.

only gave 3 stars even with no problem with the product but the delivery company they use is garbage. They Use Dragonfly courier and have nothing but problems with them. They sent package to wrong address even with proper address on package
