Exactly like the cards in the show

I'm a fan!
If like me you like Penny Dreadful, you'll most likely enjoy these cards as a interesting piece of merchandise. I also collect tarot cards and find that if you're looking for a practical tarot deck than this certainly is not it. The major arcana is beautiful but at times it seems that the imagery is based more on aesthetics than traditional meanings (which is fine by me, it's a TV prop!), but the minor arcana lacks depth as each of the pips has the same artwork with the corresponding number of wands/swords/pentacles/cups. Despite this I'm happy to have added it to my collection, and my only real criticism is that for the price it's of a much lower quality than I expected. If you plan on using the deck for reading than it probably won't last very long as it's very flimsy. Other than that, a really cool deck of cards!

Terrible Quality
When my item was delivered, the box was beat up and bent. The cards were also bent, thin, and had small tabs on the top, bottom, and sides of the cards. The front and back of the cards were scratched. A waste of £20.

Just a pretty set of cards. Must try harder.
A collector's set - definitely not for actually doing readings with. Pretty cards, the artist clearly had some fun (though seems to have run a bit short of ideas with a lot of the cards), but I suspect only had a very vague knowledge of the cards actual meaning. The minors carry the same designs, only the ace cards are different. There are simply more pentacles, cups, wands and swords squashed on to respective cards, and half of these are cut off some of the cards, when you get to the higher numbers. For some reason the artist thought rats were symbolic of swords (swords are about air... Do we have to have an animal? What about a bird then?). They decided to impale skulls on the wands - so not much action or fire happening there, as skulls represent death (?). All the cups cards look like the Rider Waite Smith version of 5 of cups. There's an agonised, screaming person on all the pentacles minors - pentacles are about earth, wealth and material possessions; granted not all of them are about keeping it, but there are some very nice pentacle minors. All of the Queens look like adolescent girls, which really isn't the energy of those cards. Don't even get me started on the majors - the Wheel of Fortune. What was going through the artist's head with that one, I can't even begin to fathom. Maybe he or she suffers from some horrible back condition, and feels fate dictates it...? Your guess is as good as mine. So, I think we can assume I'm not overwealmed with delight. It would have been nice for the artist to put a bit more effort in, and do some research.

I was a little dissapointed at the quality of these ...
I was a little dissapointed at the quality of these with some of the cards looking blurred, were quite thin, and that they had Penny Dreadful written on the back of the cards which to me ruined the look of them. Otherwise they are an unusual deck with simplistic yet eye catching designs.

A great deck to have for show only if you like the TV program.
I love the TV program so when I saw Miss Ives Tarot deck I just at to have a deck. For people who like the show will love this deck but and its a big I don't think it's a good deck for using to do readings because even thou I like the design of the cards. I don't think the person who designed them had good knowledge of Tarot and what the card mean because the pictures on some of the card don't match their meaning.
