I had a double bulb heat lamp for my tortoise. But it got far to hot with both bulbs on. So started using just 1 bulb. But the double bulb lamp looked to big anyway. So decided to buy single heat lamp. Im glad I did . Wasn't expensive. But it's perfect.

My last lamp broke so I ordered this one and love it as it light up the whole tank for my 9" terrapin. I bought the stand off amazon too so a perfect match. Shame it didn't have a timer on.

This lamp provides great coverage for our crested gecko's UV light. We have it connected to a timer to go on 12hrs daily, so hopefully our gecko will be much happier and healthier now!

I ordered this for my chickens and ducks for two purposes. Firstly for use in their overnight shelter on the coldest winter nights. The shelter is fully enclosed with a clear plastic corrugated waterproof roof but the sides are aviary wire. This lamp is mainly for my tiny true bantams and specialised breeds like frizzles whose curled feathers offer very little in the way of protection from the cold but it's available for all the birds if they choose to use it. The ducks don't really bother with it as they are well protected but again it's there if they choose. The fitting is hanging from the roof beam in one corner of their enclosure using a lightweight chain but this unit is very light so ordinary string would probably suffice, at least for a while. I use chain as it adds a little weight to keep it still in the wind. I've built a circular screen out of thin aluminium sheet with a single entrance and with a hole in the roof for this fitting to hang over. Chooks are naturally inquisitive so they find things quite easily. I've fitted it with a specialist heater bulb that produces heat but no light so it doesn't affect their eyes or sleep pattern. It's connected to a thermostat that switches the heat on when the temperature drops below 1°C but the birds don't really enter until it drops below zero. When I first had this fitting it was very cold and dropped to -8°C a few nights and most of the chooks ventured inside while the ducks chose to sit around the outside of the aluminium ring. I have CCTV set up so I can monitor them and they do appreciate it. The thermostat switches it off again at about 3°C. The second reason for getting it is for rearing new birds when the weather warms up a little as they need heat for a while after they hatch in the incubator. I have a separate shed for that. The lamp fitting is very light and this has led to it being a little flimsy and quite easy to dent but this doesn't really matter to me as it's just a tool in the garden. It was perfect when it arrived and so far it's remained almost pristine but that may change when I move it to the rearing shed. Overall I'm very pleased with it and would happily buy more if or when required.

If you follow the advice to position about 20cm away then there is no risk of burning. It is a substantial item which feels like it should last a very long time if handled correctly. It hangs vertically on the stand and is a good design.

Damaged upon arrival. Should have known for the price, don't have time or money to return and get a new one. Update * has blown 3 bulbs in 6 months, definitely defective

Large dome, reflects over a decent area and not too heavy. Also has fairly long cable which I've found useful for both plug distance and dome positioning (wrapping around stand)
