BLACK+DECKER 400 W Jigsaw Power Tool, KS500-GB

Bought this after reading several reviews. I trust the B&D brand, having had a power drill of their for over 20 years which stil works fine. This is easy to set up and makes short work of planking and timber. Well worth it. Fast delivery too.

Good quality item as you would expect from a well-known brand. Probably a bit limited if you're doing professional work, but nice and powerful for small DIY jobs. Dust goes everywhere though, so make sure to wear good googles and cover everything with dust sheets!

I've been using this jigsaw to trim planks of engineered wood flooring. The wood is about an inch thick and I need to make accurate cuts without splintering the finished surface. My old jigsaw wasn't up to the task but this Black & Decker is turning out to be ideal - though I did need to swap the supplied saw blade for a fine-tooth wood blade. I'm using the "Black & Decker 100-1" blade, which I bought as part of a multipack.The variable speed is a useful feature of this jigsaw. You control it by applying pressure to the trigger. I find it improves the accuracy, particularly at the start of the cut and if you have to make any direction changes. This model does not have pendulum action (for faster cutting). However, a lot of experts seem to advise against using this function anyway if you want the cleanest possible cut. There's no laser guide, either, but I have no problem following my pencil line on the wood surface. You can look down and see exactly where the blade is cutting as well as the line ahead of the blade.Changing the saw blade is a bit fiddly and requires a screwdriver. It's not particularly difficult but it's not something I'd want to be doing multiple times a day. The clamping screws do have a tendency to loosen slightly in use, so should be checked and retightened occasionally. The saw came with an attachment for connecting a vacuum cleaner hose to the rear exhaust. It fits my Vax vacuum and does seem to reduce the sawdust debris, though doesn't eliminate it entirely.I'm glad I bought this one rather than a more expensive model. As a hobbyist DIYer, it has all the features I need and does the job well.

Did the job and good value for money but It feels a bit 'wild' in your hand and blade insertion is a bit fiddly. On reflection I wish I had spent a bit more an got a better quality tool. About 10-15 years ago Black and Decker would not have made a tool as average quality as this. I have sinced moved to Bosch whose standard seems more consistent and is overall a higher quality albeit more expensive.

First rate product Black and Decker continue to produce tools which are of quality, performance and pricing. This tool has already proved to be most reliable. In terms of customer service the item arrived very quickly, almost always the case with Amazon.

The variable speed comes through the trigger pressure of the jigsaw itself and not a dial which makes it very easy to use and very precise. Also the bottom plate adjusts allowing for angles to be cut. In typical amazon fashion it came a day before the expected delivery date and was packaged in its own box within an amazon box so very well protected.

Perfect for my household jobs good price sturdy looking and it looks like it will last for me so I don't need to buy another

not powerful enough for solid wood 50mm thick, it's very slow, a hand saw is faster for this. the screw threads have stripped for the blade. it's fine for thin material only like mdf
