Fat cat on a mat and other tales + CD (Phonics Story Collections)

I already had a couple of the individual stories and so looked into buying the others in the set but it was more value for money to purchase this book containing them all together. The pre-school children love these stories and they are learning while having fun so they get my vote! The illiustrations are beautiful too, and searching for the little duck on every page is always exciting for the little ones. Definitelly would recommend this to anyone with pre-school children.

Just received this book and felt I had to write about it as it was such good value for £7. It has 194 pages and 12 phonics stories which are brilliant for preschool children and early years. Bought it for grandson who will use it for many years and in time will be able to read it to his little brother!👴

My daughter (reception, aged 4.5) brought "Big Pig on a dig" home in her book bag and was very keen to read some of the other stories from the series that aren't at school (helpfully advertised on the inside page of the book!). This collection is excellent value, although a little heavy for my daughter to take to school and show off as she was desperate to this morning, and has done so nevertheless. Twelve stories featuring both long and short vowel sounds, with some tricky words chucked in but not so many that it is too much of a struggle, will last a long time. We haven't listened to the CD yet (I have asked her to read each story to me herself first), but will add to this review when we do. Would highly recommend!

The book is good with a nice easy for kids to read along/guess along with. We have two little ones who enjoy all of the stories and love to find the ducks hidden in the pictures. Couple of annoyances though. The ducks aren't distributed on a 'one per page' basis, but 'one per picture'. Our boys have decided that they take one page each and find the ducks, and it means they are disappointed when there isn't one on their page, because some pages a picture spans both. The other is that the flaps can get a bit out of whack if read a bit to enthusiastically. There are quite a few and going through the book to straighten them up is a pain. Would recommend though.

I understand the other critics, but I do believe that this book is really good for young ones and early readers! My 5 year old son loves practicing and remembering the words. And what a good value! 12 stories and a CD in a book! Do not buy Frog on the Log and other stories with this book as they are the same stories (just 6 of the them tho!)

Bought as ab early reader for my 4 year old granddaughter. Nicely illustrated with good text and story line. She loves it.

My 3 year old loves the stories in this book. He's been a bit slow to talk and pronounce his words so i thought this might help. We read these stories over and over again. The words are simple and will be great for teaching him to read in a year or so. The pictures are lovely too. I highly recommend this book.

かわいらしい絵で、12話入ってCD付です。 CDはとても聞き取りやすいイギリス英語で女性の声です。 子どもにイギリス英語を聞かせたい方にはとてもお勧めのCDです！ 絵本のタイトルは Fat cat on a mat Ted in a red bed Big pig on a dig Hen's pens Fox on a box Frog on a log Ted's shed Sam sheep can't sleep Shark in the park Toad makes a road Goose on the loose Mouse moves house タイトル通り、動物が主役のお話です。 動物たちはお友達という設定なので、お話を通して、繰り返し登場します。 1話につき15〜16ページ、1ページ2〜3文。 短母音、長母音、そのほかのフォニックスの規則を織り交ぜながら 楽しい、ほのぼのとした、お話になっています。 韻を踏みながら、リズムの良い文章となっているので 何度か繰り返していくと、暗唱しながら読めるようになると思います。 ところどころ、詩のようなリズムで聞いていても心地が良いです。 絵本はハードカバーで2.5'pくらいの厚みがあり 図鑑を少し小さくしたようなサイズです。 紙質も図鑑のようにしっかりしていて、絵はやさしい色調です。 オチの部分などは、ページが折れていて、 絵が隠れているようなしかけになっています。 お話も絵もとてもかわいく、これがスラスラ読めるようになれば、 I can Readのレベル1〜2にスムーズに移行できると思います。 12話入ってCD付はお得だと思います。

Comme souvent en achetant Usborne, on n'est pas déçu. Nettement supérieur à bon nombre d'ouvrages d'autres éditions à des prix similaires. De beaux livres avec de vraies illustrations, des textes adaptés pour les petits, un CD avec les textes lus plutôt lentement permettant 'de faire un peu l'oreille' aux sons de l'anglais, un très bon achat à faire sans hésiter

Libro molto semplice per bambini, per introdurli alla lingua inglese, belle storie con animaletti simpatici e suoni molto ripetitivi. Utilissimo il CD

Incorpora los mejores libros del autor. En países de habla inglesa estos cuentos son muy conocidos y se utilizan en los colegios como primeros libros de lectura (son cuentos con rimas). Los cuentos vienen todos juntos: es un solo libro, muy bien encuadernado, en tapa dura. Cada cuento tiene sus solapas (flaps) al igual que los cuentos individuales. Al cd también le encuentro bastante utilidad; puede enseñarte la correcta pronunciación de ciertas palabras, así como darte una idea de lo que sería una apropiada entonación. También puedes ponerlo en el coche y que los niños vayan entretenidos. Sobra decir esto pero, para quién no conozca la colección, los cuentos son historias entrañables y los dibujos son absolutamente tiernos y preciosos.
