High quality graphite powder
This is very good quality. Bought it for applying to some 3d prints. Finish colour can be varied by using either darker or lighter primer coat

It can be messy when you open the jar…
Beware that when you open the jar, residue in the lid can go EVERYWHERE. It’s great to not have to rub old pencils on sandpaper to get powder but be careful, the dust gets on everything if you’re not careful. Open away from your artwork. That said, I like using graphite powder for covering areas of my drawings. It’s a good product.

Great for prop making
Purchased this to try out a simple youtube technique, one that allows prop makers/cosplayers to add a realistic metal effect to props such as toy guns or swords. For a super shiny silver effect. Prime the object with acrylic based grey car spray primer and while that’s still tacky, dab on the graphite powder with a cotton ball or brush. After dry buff it and repeat the process. Leave to dry then spray the prop with matte varnish or matt lacquer to seal it. For a black look, spray the prop with primer followed by a spray of acrylic based matt black car paint. Then apply the graphite powder as above. Either way you don’t need much powder to get the effect, so this product is good value for the money. The results you will get are stunning, though you will also get one serious messy work area. One that takes ages to clean up and your better half won’t be happy if that’s the top of your cooker! So either do this outside or in a shed/garage. Also don’t forget to wear a mask as this powder isn’t very good for lungs when used in large quantities like prop making. Plus you could use it for drawing with it.

Smooth shading
I made quite a mess on our wooden table the first time I tried to use it, but I managed to get it off using a sponge and warm soapy water, and since then I’ve avoided any more table stains by keeping the pot on a piece of kitchen roll. It’s an absolutely brilliant way to draw! For me, one of the most difficult parts of shading a portrait properly was trying to get the skin both smooth and dark enough, but applying this powder using a paintbrush leaves a beautifully smooth texture, and it’s dark enough that I often have to actually lighten it using my kneaded rubber! Using pencils for the clothes makes a nice contrast between the texture of the fabric and the smooth skin you get with the powder. However, if you’re trying to make an area *very* dark and find that the graphite is just sitting in grains of powder and refusing to absorb into your lovely drawing paper, I find that dabbing the grains with a tissue seems to push the powder in, and allows you to build up multiple layers. One other tip- before you start shading, take a quick photo of your outlines in case you accidentally drown some of them in powder, having a reference makes it easy to work out where your lines were without removing needless amounts of shading. Graphite powder isn’t quite as straightforward as shading only with pencils, but it’s definitely not difficult to get used to, and it gives amazing results when used alongside pencils.

Top Wuality Graphite Powder
Recommended to buy this when doing My 3D printed Files using a high gloss black, then rubbing its awesome graphite powder on top to create a high gloss metallic finish. Awesome to use highly recommend to buy.
