Good Quality Makita tool
This is a very good machine for someone who knows how to use it like any other tool. Powerful enough and good cuts when obviously chain is sharp. To clarify the adjustment Pin that everyone is complaining is an alloy. I'm not sure why everyone thinks is plastic, this is wrong, it's definitely an alloy moving on an alloy bolt so strong enough, unless you hammer it down etc. One flow, the oil container and access to it: would be better if it was more like a swan neck otherwise need to be careful when refilling as access is limited. I can recommend this tool as professional enough to deal with most of tasks.

Absolutely one of the best tools ive ever purchased
I cannot relay how good this product is. Having been in construction for 20+ years im used to handling tools, machinery etc. i thought this chainsaw would be ok for my 17yr old to chop wood for our wood ovens and wood boiler. I was right it is a lot more safer to use and control but it is so capable. I literally have a 4ft oak which it managed to get through better than my peteol chainsaw and without having to stop and re fuel and mix fuel and add oil etc etc. Its value value value. Its also incredibly quiet, my hoover is louder! Which keeps the noise pollution down. It would also be good for an older person who cant handle the rigors of a petrol saw. Safe, excellent performance, value for money, enjoyable to use

really nice saw
I bought this to replace a Bosch AKE30 that was a bit small and the makita is a much nicer saw - cuts considerably faster and with much less vibration when cutting with the full length of the bar. One minor niggle - the chain tensioner is rather fiddly to put the cover on. You have to carefully align the pin and hold the bar while getting everything to slot together, and the bits that must align are hidden from view. Why??? Every other chain saw I've used has the tensioning pin in the body of the saw so the tension holds everything in place while you pop the cover on, effortlessly. But not a big deal - otherwise the saw is great.

Great
Great, well made and a powerful saw, would recommend. Only one negative hence four stars, there is no power lead on the box, it states on Amazon advert the lead is included but it isn’t, the lead is an optional extra.

Quality construction and a good cutting action
Seems to combine the best characteristics for an electric chain saw in a really manageable form factor and reasonably light weight. Excellent chain speed, good tensioning mechanics, easy filling for the oil, and very positive on the hand guard. This is about as long as you want an electric to be, and for our garden use, anything bigger or more powerful would just be overkill (in fact, having used it, I'd happily have gone for a shorter bar). Limited use so far but performance has been very good. A really clean, positive cut, easy to handle vertically or horizontally, with a good start/stop action and plenty of power.

Solid tool. Chops through big logs easily :)
Although it's electric, when you're cutting it has the same satisfying feeling as using a petrol chainsaw but without the noise. It feels like a solid tool. I did about 20 slices in total of Ash, Birch and Oak to make tops for stools. It chopped through all of them 12" to 16" diameter logs easily. This is my favourite power tool. There are so many possiblities with it. Now when I see a nice chunk of wood at a tree surgeons I can actually make use of it :) The chain tensioner seems a bit fiddly. I would prefer a more robust mechanism. However if you do the correcct steps it works fine. You have to loosen the sprocket cover first otherwise you could snap the chain tensioner head.

Exceptional
I bought it for a purpose and it more than did itself justice. The ease of starting and stopping at the touch of switch really does put the Petrol Models in the shade. Most of my workload was cutting for short but frequent periods and the Makita was excellent in that role. I had to sharpen the blade just once and even that was an easy task given the design features of the Saw and the ease of removing and replacing chains etc. All in all I am very pleased with the Makita UC4051A and would highly recommend it.
