A Good, Versatile Tripod
I'm very pleased with this good quality, reasonably priced tripod. Provided the tilt locking knob and pan locking lever are correctly set (either 'locked' or 'unlocked'), and the centre column lock is tightened, this seems like a sturdy and wobble-free piece of kit. I'm looking forward to using the smooth action fluid head next time I shoot some video footage. A few test recordings reveal the tripod delivers a jerk-free start and end to pans and tilts. The pan and tilt friction is not adjustable, unlike rather more expensive, video-dedicated tripods, but this shouldn't be an issue for most users. I have a DSLR, not a proper video camera, and I imagine it would be fine with heavier cameras too. Setting the tripod up for stills should be a doddle once I've used it a few times. One of the legs unscrews and transforms into a monopod, which can be used with or without the removable centre column to increase the height. Very useful when you're shooting in a crowd. My only slightly negative comment is that the head has a tendency to come loose from the tripod mounting plate when panning left, but this is, I believe, a problem with most 'bowl-free' video tripods - certainly those that don't have grub screws or locking screws to 'bond' the tripod to the head. My solution? A 2" square piece of 1/8" thick rubber, with a 3/8" hole in the middle, between tripod and head. It seems to do the job. This is the tripod I chose to replace my old Slik, which has done solid service from the mid 70s onwards, both for stills and 8mm movies, and yes, I'm very pleased indeed with the TP72A.

This tripod is one of the better one`s i`ve used, very stable, and gives a professional feel about it
This tripod was delivered by Amazon on time, the tripod is very good, and very stable, and like it very much, i only gave it 4 stars as the down side of this tripod, is the tripod head, the head is very jerky, and makes a creaking noise when moved in any direction, even with the tension screws are undone, i have a more expensive tripod with a ball head, i have fitted the ball head onto this tripod, as i needed a tripod that folds up quickly, whereas my expensive tripod does not fold down quickly, as i am videoing my nephews wedding in June, if the tripod had a better head, i would have given it 5 stars, the legs lock into place very securely, has a locking ring ring on the centre pole, to stop the tripod collapsing, the legs are very stable and the tripod does not rock, has a hook on the centre pole to add a weight, to make the tripod stable in windy weather, also has a spirit level on the tripod to make sure it is level, when legs are fully extended the tripod is very high, found it better when the lower legs are not fully extended, unless you are over 6ft tall, so come on Neewer sort out these tripod heads, and make this tripod a best buy. Update on this review, Neewer state they want to offer 100% satisfaction, having been in touch with Neewer, they were concerned about my concerns over the jerky head, i explained to them i stripped the head to lubricate the head to give a smooth operation, they responded to say they will replace the product within 7 days with no return of the old one, so to me they do care about customer satisfaction, which is rare these days, so on that point i have increased rating to 5* this is a company worthy of 5* for product quality and customer satisfaction, if you want to buy from a quality company, that care`s about it`s customers, then this is the one, i would recommend this company / supplier 110%

Easy to use, strong and sturdy construction. Comes with a carry bag and it's not too heavy to carry
A sturdy tripod, has a little hook under it to stow bags to make it heavier. Also comes in handy for storage of bags/ equipment. It has a spirit level on it so you can make sure it's level. Round feet made from tough rubber means you can put it on almost any terrian. The feet are on ball joints which aid in positioning too. There's an extending pole at the base of the camera holder for extra height. It can stand well over 6ft fully extended. What I do like as well is that it doesn't have too many 'bells and whistles' It's a simple, no nonsense tripod for an intermediate beginner.

Don't Look Down On It Because It's Cheaper
When compared to more expensive tripods, especially the travel variety, this Neewer portable one may seem a little lacking but it's actually not as much of a difference as one might think. It's sturdy enough to have lasted me five years of usage, and the "multi-function hook" as it's apparently called is great for adding wieght and stability. The pan and tilt head is useful as a starter but can be swapped for a ball head if you have one, and it even has a spirit level which some of the more expensive tripods I own don't have! It even has a built-in monopod which is a little on the basic side, but still a great addition. So what are the downsides? Well the pan/tilt head tends to be a little stiff which can result in jerking motions when moving the camera around - which is why so many people replace the head so quickly. In addition to that at its tallest height it can become a little unstable, which is a shame as otherwise its maximum height would have been a plus. It's also highly advisable to hang something heavy on the hook before using the tripod as it's not as heavy as it looks, so it's best to make it more stable when you can. That said, for the price it's really difficult not to recommend this tripod for anyone just starting out. It would make a great and affordable addition to the kit for anyone just starting out in photography or videography, and taking into account the stiffness in the motion of the pan/tilt head this might actually be better used as a training tripod/monopod - something which you can use while you're figuring things out before you go off and buy more expensive kit.

Great little tripod
Loved the way that, fully extended, this goes way above everyone's heads - I'm 6'4" tall and had to look up to see the camcorder viewscreen. Of course, that's with the legs fully spread, closing the base lifts the camcorder an inch or two higher (but loses stability). I admit to being a little disappointed when I discovered the centre pole wasn't a wind up/down type although my disappointment was short-lived as I was very happy to see that the centre pole can be completely removed to use as a short (2' ?) monopod. Otherwise, fairly standard leg clamps hold the legs firmly & the whole thing is a doddle to use, for the price, even the pan/tilt feature is smooth & creak free!

Nice tripod
First tripod for 25 years having had a good quality one fail due to the quick release plate that is no longer made and unique. The cost of tripods are though the roof but this one is reasonably priced and does the job well. It is stable and easy to use and well made throughout. The idea of having the centre column come out to make a mono pod is a good feature as well but I do think a change of head would be of benefit as the normal adjustments are not that useful as a mono pod and get in the way a little. All in all a good purchase and well worth the money.

Wow - It's a tripod
I rarely use a Tripod, so rarely that I could not find my old one for a shoot coming up the next day. I ordered this Neewer tripod as it was cheap, tall (back injury) and had a removable monopod. Keeping it brief, The tripod is great. It is small, when folded, but has 4 sections to extend to 6 feet or so. Most of the parts are made of aluminium but there are inevitably some plastic parts to keep the weight/ cost down but the plastic bits seem OK in terms of quality. Would I take this tripod across a mountain - no. Would I use it for portraits, interiors etc - yep. Also comes with a handy case which seems OK. Summary: Good value for a versatile tripod.

Average piece of kit.
The tripod is lightweight and packs neatly into the bag that is supplied, but I'm not sure how long the bag will last as it's fairly flimsy. When folded, it is around 2.5 feet long, so doesn't really fit into a rucksack! It's pretty lightweight, and has a hook to hang a weight off if you need it to be more sturdy. At present, I have only used this in an indoor setting so not sure how it handles outside, but the feet are hinged to make them stable on an uneven surface. My main issue with this is that the top section (which comes out of the body to form the basis of your monopod) and has the swivel head attached never feels hugely secure and takes some time to get level. This is a good interim purchase whilst you save up for a a piece of Manfrotto kit!
