A Superb Server Rack for the Small Business or Home User
Really well packaged. Quite heavy but that's a good thing as it is very strong. Assembly was very easy with the tools supplied (10mm and 13 mm spanners and a screwdriver), but having an additional 10mm spanner to aid fitting the wheels and a 14mm spanner for the levelling feet is advised. The ability to vary the depth is the biggest selling point for me - I currently have no need for a full depth cabinet but I can see that changing. I have it set to the minimum right now, and that does make it, in my opinion, even more solid. There is a small amount of play in the joints once assembled, but just the addition of a couple of shelves and a patch panel tighened everything up completely.Just an excellent bit of kit and great value for money.

Rock solid, easy build, clean look. Worth the admittedly expensive price.
Expensive, but a true buy-once, cry-once purchase. This thing is absolutely SOLID! I'm not personally using the wheels, but the thing is absolutely rock solid. Assembly is very easy, took me 15-20 minutes alone. I wouldn't be shocked if this far outlives me.Tips for making it look less 'jarring' in a home setting:Use a length of black electrical tape to cover the numbering down each of the 4 exandable side arms. Do this during assembly before sliding into the receiving arms. This gives the rack a uniform clean black aesthetic.Use another length of black electrical tape to cover over the logo. When pressed down firmly in a straight line, it's practically invisible when you're not directly looking for it. This greatly helps with the look.

Excellent rack for home lab servers
This is an excellent rack and great value for money. Pretty easy to put together (checkout the video on the Startech website) and fits my Dell R630 servers perfectly, with standard rails. It came with all the tools, screws, nuts and bolts needed for assembly and a pack of cage nuts to mount things like switches. Someone obviously thought about what people need in a complete package. I got the 12U size and have enough space for a few more servers. It would be suitable for ROBO, Edge, and small office environments and I use it for a home lab setup.

Amazing quality product at a fantastic price!
I rarely write reviews on products but this latest purchase has pleased me enough to warrant some feedback.Firstly - the packaging of the rack was SUPERB! I have never seen something be so well packaged in my life. It's HEAVY so you'd expect lots of packing etc. to stop the box from falling apart but these guys have gone above and beyond to protect all the components too. They're made of steel so protecting them would be a mute point except they obviously care about the quality and finish being preserved during transit. Seriously, well done on that front!Secondly - the quality of the materials is really high. No, really - it's SOOO good you'd be forgiven for thinking you'd robbed them for the price they're asking. There are no sharp edges, no dodgy holes, no duff bolts etc. - it's all just perfect. The paint job is also something they've not scrimped on. It's THICKKK. Really very good job done on something that may well face some abuse over the coming years.Thirdly - it's HEAVY. Really. You MUST take note that putting it together on your own IS possible but to avoid scratching anything or doing your back in - you really should consider getting a second pair of hands to assist. Yet another sign of quality materials being used here.WELL DONE StarTech - You've earned yourself a NEW loyal customer!

A great small server rack at a reasonable price
I bought this rack to go into a small server cupboard in a homelab that I was putting together and it is the perfect size to fit in there and at a very reasonable price.Having only previously built a rack for audio equipment before, which was made of thin metal and relied on the mounted equipment to make it rigid, I was very impressed with the StarTech 4 post rack. This is made of tick metal parts and when bolted together there is hardly any flex. It is easy to assemble and feels like a quality product that was well manufactured. The adjustable depth of the rack is a great feature allowing this rack to have a small footprint if only used for network equipment and short servers, or be extended to accommodate larger servers. The only thing that I have more of a query about than see as a negative is: the rack includes some grounding wires, but there is no obvious grounding point on the rack. It would be nice if there was a clear grounding point.

overall good, but missing a few minor things
good rack but it's missing a few things for being perfect.a set of internal/front to rear mounts to allow fixed shelves to be used (these are 90 degree rotated from the typical front cage nut mounts; see datacel, hp & dell cabs). as it stands you need to use the front mounts.cable management hooks stick out the sides so you either cannot mount cabs directly next to each other, or add to your width. having the mounts point front/rear would allow for a cleaner and more compact installation which is especially useful for home type use where space/tidyness is of higher importance.other than that, brilliant cab. the adjustable depth is especially useful as i required a measure between the common fixed depth cabs and was one of the reasons i bought this.

Very solid rack
Very solid rack, very straight forward assembly and almost every tool required is included (for my setup I had everything required as I'm not using leveling feet)I currently have my 15U loaded up with just over 100Kg and it still rolls around very nicely. I would have liked the option for a top panel but as there isn't an off the shelf one I've ordered some 8mm black acrylic. One thing I would have liked (although I doubt anybody else wants) would have been more flexability in the side by side joining and cable management positions.
