does what it says on the tin...Well, bottle then!
just done my TG TV chefs beech chopping board with this and I must say what a fine job it's done! This product really enhances the grain of the wood and really soaks in, unlike some that leave a residue on the surface. I do a lot of dough needing on my board and the continuous use of flour and water really dries the wood out, this stuff as put an end to that, great stuff and well worth the outlay! PS: A tip I learnt when I needed to remove chinks from my shotguns stock was to hold a wet cloth over the dent and go over with an iron. the steam lifts up the grain and the wood is as good as new! I also works on chopping board to remove deep knife marks, just be carefull! A usefull tip: When applying the oil to your board it is better to apply in two light coats and letting it soak in for a few mins in between. It is better to apply several lighter coats of oil than one heavy This is the best oil on the market bar none and superb value compared to other brands. hope that helps. Mark One thing I forgot to add is that this oil, unlike veg oil, WILL NOT go rancid and so will keep forever and never go out of date! It does not taint foodstuff ether and will not harm you if ingested!

Provides a deep layer of protection
I bought this originally for a new worktop in my workshop. I have a lovely solid beach worktop that I had deliberately bough unfinished as I wanted the softer texture of natural wood. So far I have managed to get the worktop to drink up just over one bottle of this (worktop is 2 metres by 60cm) and the surface is still lovely wood, but it seems to now nicely resist dropped fluid, solder and all sorts of other misuse. I now just give it a quick wipe over with oil every couple of weeks to keep it lookign and feeling great. Highly recommended.

Great value oil. Recommended
This 237ml bottle contains 100% mineral oil with a trace of vitamin E. All wooden products need to be correctly treated to allow them to stand the test of time, whether it's a garden fence, a table, or in this case a chopping block. A protective barrier needs to be created to shield against germs and/or the growth of mould. This is where the foodsafe Catskill mineral oil comes in to play. It needs to be repeatedly applied to the surface of the block so that it will fill the wood pores, thus repelling food particles, liquids and oils. It initially needs to be applied several times during the first month of use. After that, it should be applied regularly, say once a month or whenever the board starts getting dried up. Apply the oil regularly and a good quality wooden block will last for many years. It will also keep your board looking fantastic too! People actually sometimes comment (positively) on the board when entering my kitchen. Does Catskill mineral oil work? Well I've been using oils on my blocks for years and it really does perform well. If it is oiled properly then a simple wipe-down with a wet and soapy cloth after use will remove contaminants from the board. Dry it down properly using kitchen towel so it is bone dry, then sniff the board and it will be odour free (ie no aroma from left-over foodstuffs, liquids or oils hiding in the pores). No discolouration from chopping herbs and spices. So yes, this oil works great. Great value too. Recommended

Wooden Block Back Looking As Good As New
My wife has a wooden chopping board which we have had in the kitchen for a number of years. I recently decided to sand this down due to a number of stains on there, along with a scorch mark from a very hot pan. Having done so, the board had lost its sheen, and looked tired. Having done a little research on the Internet, I realised it is possible to get your board looking as good as new. This oil is well worth purchasing. Very easy to apply, liberally, and by using a kitchen towel, make sure you give the board a good coating. The oil absorbs in to the board very quickly. To date I have applied eight coats, four either side, and I have hardly used the oil. It tends to go quite a long way. The board is looking now as good as new. More so, the board does not feel oily? Highly recommended.

Amazing for any butchers block / Chopping board
Bought this after purchasing a T&G End Grain board from Dunelm Mill, got it home and found out i needed to oil it, well i went on the search and boy there is a lot of mineral oils out there, many people advise a vegetable oil, Olive or any other food oil, please dont as these do and will go Rancid ( Basically they go bad ) - after some reading i decided on this oil, and it doesn't disappoint, after wiping my board and making sure its clean and dry, apply about a tablespoon full onto the middle of the board, and wipe in with a circular motion until all the board is covered, once its all covered leave to dry, mine took about 1 hour, then once its dried apply again and follow the steps above, i re-applied the oil 3 times on 1 side then turn the board over and did the same again 3 times. to clean the board a quick wipe generally is fine, but when im using meat of any kind, i use a white vinegar spray and a half a lemon sprinkled with salt then use the lemon as a scrub, easy and simple, and all natural ingredients :) hope this review helps someone out there.

Food safe oil
I bought this to use on my handcarved wooden spoons and bowls. I needed something safe to protect and bring out the natural grain and beauty of the wood. This is perfect because it won't go rancid like vegetable oils and doesn't pose any risk to allergy sufferers like walnut oil does. It's lovely and clean to use. I don't have to wash my hands afterwards because it is good on skin. I've discovered that if I put a small amount onto the greenwood as I carve, it dries out slowly and never splits at the ends. This has saved me a lot of annoyance and wasted effort. Brilliant! I've revived some bought wooden spoons in the kitchen with this too. It's also good on tools to protect and clean them after use. My axe gets a smear of this before I put it away and it keeps it dry and shiny. I think the bottle could be a bit bigger for the price, but it's fairly reasonable including postage.

Consigliatissimo!!!!
