Sevenhills Wholefoods Organic Maca Powder 1kg from Peru, Pure Maca Root, Vegan, Gluten-Free, Non-GMO, Kosher

Although maca is a root that belongs to the radish family it is actually quite sweet, and I found the flavour of this brand to be very pleasant which made it much easier to take - it's a sort of malty flavour. I bought it because it is said to help to balance hormones and to therefore be particularly helpful for menopausal and post menopausal women. It also contains lots of vitamins and minerals and is also said to have some ginseng-like qualities in that it gives you an energy boost. Anyway, one thing is for sure, it has been consumed for many centuries in Peru, the main place of cultivation. I mainly add it to smoothies. I make what I call a 'power smoothie' with banana, maca, cacao powder, ground flax seeds, coconut oil, ground sesame seeds, organic yogurt and whatever else I may feel inspired to add! One thing you should know is not to heat it up otherwise it will lose it's beneficial effects. I recommend this particular product because it represents very good value for money, it tastes good, it's well packaged and it's certified organic. I also found the shelf life to be very good. You can't go wrong really.

This is interesting, I'm just in the peri-menopausal stage and I was starting to get hot flushes - I thought at first it was happening when I was wearing a fleece. Anyway, I was definitely beginning to get them and then I was in a health food shop and began chatting to this girl at the Maca powder shelf who happened to be a herbalist and she recommended it - I came and bought at Amazon and started putting it in my cereal. However, the taste is not good - yuksville. I started making smoothies and added a large spoonful to them - great! I couldn't taste it at all and got into the habit. After a few weeks I realised that gradually my hot flush symptoms were reducing and after a little while further, I hadn't got them at all. I stopped taking it and in fact I've not had any symptoms since. I appreciate that this might not happen for everyone but it is worth a try if you're suffering. I think it also gives you energy (but that might be the effect of drinking a fruit/veg smoothie every morning). This make seems to be good enough quality.

I can't comment on the product quality or effectiveness because I don't know how to judge them, but I can tell you about the taste. It's important to me because even though I am committed to my health, trying to eat/drink something I don't like every day is unbearable. To give you an idea of my likes and dislikes, I tried Spirulina powder but found it too horrible to drink and it spoilt anything I tried to add it to (in an attempt to mask the taste). I found Corella a bit unpleasant-tasting, but tolerable. Green passion powder, a mixture of superfoods, was slightly better. I love the taste of the Pulsin protein powders - hemp, rice and pea. The Maca is OK, not exactly nice but not at all unpleasant to me and reminds me a bit of vanilla (I'm reviewing the unflavoured Maca powder). I hope this helps...

Not bad ,smells ok , tastes ok ,mixes well , energy level not great , will probably go back to my old one.

I only use maca powder to add flavour to my porridge, so can’t really comment on other benefits as I haven’t taken notice, but this powder tastes soo good! It’d great for the price

I ordered this for my wife in October as she read good things about maca and its health benefits. She wanted to improve concentration, fertility (as we trying for baby #2) and other hormonal things. She took about 5-6 grams every day even though the taste was absolutely awful. She has given up taking it now because she didn't notice any changes. Sleeping is not improved, still can't sleep very well, and the concentration? If I say something in the morning she forgets by the afternoon, her cycle is still irregular and needless to say she is still not pregnant. On top of all that the taste is so unbearable no matter how you use it! I advise you take it as a supplement (if you can bear the taste) but don't expect anything from it, it's not a miracle worker!
