We have had a blackbird mating pair (who we call 'Bonnie and Clyde') spilling our wood chips all over the place in their hunt for worms and insects. Fine, but we'd much rather they hunted on the lawn (like they used to before one of them got wind of a better treasure trove!). So anyway, this tape worked immediately. We just pegged a short length of the tape onto canes, with the canes about 3 metres apart. The images show our setup. The canes are at 45 degrees to stop the tape winding around the canes, and you need at least a small breeze for it it to work - the tape has to move slightly. Bonnie and Clyde are now munching worms on the lawn again, and everyone is happy. More importantly, we still hear them singing, which is always nice!

I found if fitted to the eves of the house it deters a high proportion of pigeons. On fences it encourages them to fly a little higher and on ground level have found the tape to be uneffective

Just had a new front lawn laid as it was in dreadful condition after last summer, also chafer grubs which the magpies were going mad for. The lawn has been treated for the chafer grubs but wanted something to keep the magpies away until this takes effect. Put up 19 sticks with the tape attached and it's working a treat.

I read previous reviews and was convinced but as you can see from my pic - it's no deterrent at all. Update ... Picture 2 is a week after the original review above. I added more of the tape all over the garden. The pigeons love the flashy tape , in fact it seems to attract them more. What a useless product.

It's just a roll of shiny paper but it's not sticky.

As long as you hang strips of tape on high up branches or hanging baskets it does deter magpies or other unwanted birds

Ero scettico, ma devo dire che il nastro funziona. Sono riuscito ad allontanare uno stormo di storni che aveva preso di mira un fico di fianco a casa mia. Si trattava di uccelli molto fastidiosi, rumorosi e che imbrattavano di deiezioni. Avevo tentato con la dissuasione acustica, per un po' aveva funzionato, poi gli uccelli si erano abituatati ai rumori e agli allarmi e continuavano a cibarsi come niente fosse. Scappavano se andavo a spaventarli, ma dopo qualche minuto tornavano. Le strisce annodate ai rami invece li hanno allontanati stabilmente, almeno finora, dopo circa due mesi. Bisogna dire che la loro efficacia aumenta se c'è sole e se c'è vento e viceversa, per questo ho aggiunto anche dei palloni terrifici. I due tipi di dissuasori sembrano integrarsi bene insieme. I raggi del sole riflessi sono accecanti e disturbano molto gli uccelli, inoltre le strisce non sono solo riflettenti ma anche rifrangenti, quindi sono cangianti, cambiano colore e luminosità mentre si muovono. Un ulteriore effetto di dissuasione è dato dal rumore secco che fanno quando sono agitate dal vento. Tutto questo fa si che vengano probabilmente scambiate per oggetti animati. I primi giorni avevo notato ancora la presenza di merli, probabilmente questi uccelli sono meno spaventatati dalle strisce, ma queste dovrebbero comunque creare un ambiente inospitale per loro, poiché dopo un paio di mesi non ne vedo più uno in giro.

I was having problems with flickers damaging my house and tried a number of remedies before I found this tape. I cut strips of about 30" long and put a string thru so it was like a kite and hung it out my window. Worked perfectly. It is noisy so I used just one length and cut it lengthwise.
