LG SJ2 Soundbar with 2.1 Channel 160 W Speaker Set, Black

Purchased due to relatively small size to fit under a 43 inch Samsung and favourable reviews such as from Which. Quite happy with choice. Sound quality is good, adequate for small lounge. Separate woofer gives good bass that can be boosted for films and music. Easy enough to set up and pleased it works from the Virgin remote. No graph or bars showing sound level , just an indication of increase or decrease volume but that's no real problem for me. Maybe not suitable for bigger room ? For me it was a good choice especially for the money.

Sound quality is good. I'm using it on a gaming system and it gives high quality sound with plenty of bass from the (wireless) sub-woofer. I've not got the bass on max but it's great. The sub-woofer does obviously need a power cable so I've ended up with a 7 things plugged into a double power point, worth considering. I have not noticed much stereo effect but that might be my placement, due to lack of space it's behind the TV and not square-on to me. And partly enclosed by the walls. It seems to have two speakers in the ends pointing outwards, one of which is blocked by a wall so that's probably it. Build quality is excellent, very solid. Ease of use - inputs are 3.5mm jack, USB, Bluetooth or optical. I've gone for optical and it just works. The unit also powers on and off automatically (not sure if that works for the 3.5mm jack). It doesn't come with any of the cables though. No regrets after over one year of use.

It's trivially easy to set up, and I've but the subwoofer behind the TV out of sight. The soundbar sits beneath the TV. When the TV is switched on, the soundbar comes on, and I can control the sound with the TV remote. I haven't needed to use the soundbar's remote control much, other than to set bass level and source. For films the sound is rich and clear, with a decent enough bass to shake the house if you want that. Playing music by bluetooth is a breeze. Size-wise, it it in't hugely bulky or wide so won't look out of place but gives enough of a stereo effect.

After just 2 years my Samsung soundbar and sub woofer decided to stop working (or the bluetooth failed between the 2) also the soundbar had a habit of vibrating on certain words. Anyway enough of that My LG Sound bar and subwoofer arrived and with in 10 mins I was up and running connected by bluetooth (smart TVs) otherwise you will need an optical lead (not supplied). The sound is excellent and it is worth the money The sound bar connects via bluetooth to my Samsung TV and it will connect to all Smart TVs as long as they have bluetooth connectivity. Samsung wanteds me to call out an engineer to fix the problem which would cost at least £70 just to step thru the door plus the repair, this was £85 and post free so there you go

The audio on my small LG was poor, and I thought I might improve it by buying one of those much vaunted sound bar. Well, this one has excellent bass, and it works extremely well as a Bluetooth speaker. However, for me, someone whose hearing is not as good as it used to be, the all-important mid-range and high sound are lacking. One might have been able to compensate if there were some tone controls (either in hardware or thru software), but no. An ordinary Roberts radio can produce spoken sound that I can understand. Why can't this soundbar?

The unit has completely transformed the sound quality when used with my Panasonic TV. It was easy to install using an optical cable. Subwoofer paired automatically. Android phone and tablet were paired manually without difficulty. Sound quality probably not true HIFi but more than adequate for all but the hypercritical listener. Only slight criticism is over emphasis of sibilants but this was easily corrected by decreasing treble control on the TV. As transmission sound levels vary considerably from channel to channel (also when playing music from my tablet) it would be a major improvement if the volume setting was indicated on the Sound Bar.

Having had a bad experience with a previous soundbar, I decided to invest a bit more money in the LG SJ2. The soundbar arrives in stylish packaging and can be easily accessed with just a pair of scissors. The setup was very quick and I was quickly using the soundbar with my tv using an optical cable (purchased separately). The subwoofer can be placed elsewhere in the room provided it has a power source, it connects automatically upon plugging in both the soundbar and the sub. The remote comes with supplied batteries which is a nice touch and not seen that often anymore, however it does work with a sky remote which again automatically begins to work following power on. The sound is clear and bass can be adjusted to your taste/preference. A couple of downsides I would say are as follows: 1. The soundbar does not work with an LG Magic Remote (which is unusual as it's an LG product). Perhaps this is something that can be resolved with an update, however it's disappointing that it doesn't work out of the box. 2. There is no indication of volume level/sub volume on the soundbar itself. This is all done by guesswork so there can be some surprises if you turn the volume up for some quiet audio, then switch to the TV and suddenly David Attenborough is screaming at you about endangered trees or something.

This is an excellent sound bar . I have it connected to my LG 3D TV in my bedroom , via a digital optical audio cable . I enjoy listening to audio CDs via an LG blu-ray player , and the sound is fuller , more richer , than you get with normal TV speakers . I listened to ABBA's CD Voyage and it sounds fantastic . The sub-woofer pairs automatically and gives a pleasant 'rumble' sound . The sound bar is also good when you are watching a DVD movie . The remote control is dinky and simple to use . Recommended !
