Perfect Add-On for My Sony BRAVIA TV!
I bought the Sony BRAVIA CAM (CMU-BC1) to go with my 2023 BRAVIA XR TV, and it has been a fantastic upgrade. Setup was incredibly easy — it connects magnetically to the top of the TV and automatically paired in seconds. The picture quality from the camera is excellent for video calls through Google Meet, and I love the added smart features it unlocks. The gesture controls are surprisingly responsive, and the auto power-saving feature that dims or turns off the TV when no one’s in the room is a nice touch. It even adjusts picture and sound based on where I’m sitting — a small detail that really makes a difference in everyday viewing. Build quality is solid, compact, and discreet, so it doesn’t distract from the clean look of the TV. The privacy cover is a thoughtful inclusion too.

Great for video conference
I use this for video conferencing in my media room instead of my computer and it's pretty cool

Wish it was cheaper, but I still love it
I wish it was like $50 cheaper, but I do like the features it adds to my Sony TVs. I have a Bravia 8 OLED and a Sony X90L, and added these cameras to both. My features are the audio tuning it can do and the power saving features it offers.

Great camera - Nicely integrated into TV
This camera delivers a crisp HD image in a relatively dim room. When plugged into my XR65A80's USB port, camera was quickly detected and the option to set it up was given. Set up was easy. I use this camera with the TV's built-in Zoom app. I tried the hand-gestures -- waste of time. Sony should have better had a remote with an integrated on-screen pointer like the one provided by the other company who is the largest OLED TV provider.

Horrible quality image. Selling this for $200 should be illegal
I'm truly puzzled as to who decided this would be worth $200. It's UVC-compatible, but it only supports the YUYV and Motion-JPEG formats, and worse yet, in MotionJPEG mode the color is horribly off -- everything is tinted heavily green and blue. The only mode that actually works well is YUYV, but that's limited to 640x480 and 30 FPS. {"apiVersion":"v1.0.0","body":"\"{\\\"message\\\":\\\"hello\\\"}\"","method":"notify","resource":"system"} All in all, this product makes no sense, especially at this price point. You're better off just buying a regular modern webcam for $30.

Technology loaded and Futuristic
Works as advertised, compatible with my television and allows me to have the opportunity to control my television from where I am standing or seated in the room. This also assists in adjusting television settings accordingly to visual cues.

Maybe my expectations were too high. This camera is 95% useless

It works but is it necessary?
So if your TV didn’t come with the Bravia Cam but is compatible with one should you get it? Maybe! Let me explain. It’s fantastic at adjusting the picture based on where you are in the room in relation to the Sony TV. It also does gestures but not very well. You can tell the TV what to do by holding up your hand and gesturing. Most Sony TVs already have Alexa and an app you can use on your phone so this feature is a miss. The gesturing works sometimes but not all the time. You’d be better off just using the remote. Lastly video calls. Well, I have a phone so I don’t really need that feature. It also appears you need someone else with compatible software to even use the feature. I bought it because the TV is in an area where natural light and other factors such as my location can affect the way the TV image looks . This corrects that and makes the TV have the best possible picture consistently regardless of where you are in the room by the TV. I think Sony makes great TVs but this accessory might have over promised and under delivered.

Fantastic product for my high end Sony x93L tv! Does as advertised, which is quite a lot feature-wise. Hand gestures are a bit of a struggle for myself. I believe it's because of where my living room lamp is setup.
