If you are taller than "average" you need this c
Most power lift recliners listed on Amazon have a description hurried deep in the listing that says it is for people less than 5' 10" tall. There are very few designed for people over this height. I looked at everything available on Amazon to chairs a retail stores and online. Heat, massage, USB chargers, cup holders are all features that take away from the actual quality of the power lift mechanism. These features always fail on "regular recliners" and will NOT perform any different on the "power lift" So after many weeks of research, this Ashley Signature shows up. This particular "Grey" fabric model being several hundred dollars less than the same chair in another color. Instead of heat and massage, it has 2 motors. The first motor operates the recliner back (which will fold back to a sleeping position). The second motor operates the lifting mechanism and foot rest. The operation is controlled by a wired "wand" that has lit buttons (4 of them) that control the recliner functions. There is also a USB connection at the top of the wand which can be used for charging a phone or other lite duty electrical component. The construction of the wand is superior to many high end electronic remotes. The motors are silent, the mechanism is oversized and heavy duty. The chair moves very smooth. Next, comfort. The chair itself is big and roomy. The first thing we noticed taking it out of the box was the size and thickness of the upholstery springs, and how heavy the support structure is built compared to other recliners. Everything is heavy steel with lots of polished stainless fasteners or critical components. Everything, even the foot levels are massive compared to other chairs. Sitting in the chair, the seat is stiff and we'll supported. The back has lots of support but cradles the back. The whole chair has a feeling, that as it "settles in" it will not sag, but actually become more comfortable. I have had this chair for 3 days and I am happy with my purchase. More than this, I feel I have found the best chair available and feel it will last me for many years. I will all an update when needed. Update I am very disappointed in this recliner after 15 months. As seems typical of Ashley furniture to us cheap filler on their seat cushions. The seat on this chair (while looking "overstuffed" originally) is now no longer usable. The cushion is non-exsistant having conpressd from nearly 5" to now nothing, I am sitting on wood cross members, basically making this chair unusable. The frame is also starting to warp. I purchased the furniture warranty and this isn't covered. This chair has not been abused nor has it been sat in by anyone even close to the recommended weight (max user weight 200lbs) The chair's cushion is not easy to get to so it would be difficult to restuff yourself, and furntiture repair shops are quoting pricing that is more than the chair costs just to add or replace the foam. I cant afford to buy another recliner, so I am forced to try and restuff myself. This chair is not worth the money spent. Beware, you will be happy at first, but soon will be disappointed in the long run.

It's a good fit to most, well constructed and better comfort than most
It's firm supportive and my wife loves it, she's recovering from a broke femur and had to be completely assisted sitting and reclining and getting out of other recliner, but with this new Ashley Ernestine power lift she can do all that any time day or night by herself and helped give her ability to relax without calling me for help. It's not a small tight fit on most people, it's actually roomier than my _azyBoy recliner; I'm 5'11" 230 and not small, my wife similar in size just a bit shorter; there is room around hips and legs and I have tried to capture that in pics also the head cushion is comfortably tall enough and the reason I bring that up is several has criticized size as being short and too small. I think this recliner is roomie enough yet firm fitting. I went into a Ashley store and sat in a Yandel lift chair which I thought just felt to snug and not good lumbar support and I gambled on the Ernestine being more comfortable. It's the best value for the price I think you'll be able to find. It is duel motor meaning you'll be able to elevate legs without reclining if you want, and so back has a separate button to recline The Shipping time was a bit of concern with me but they actually got it here 2-3 days Earlier so that was a blessing and thats why i wanted to go thru Amazon because i had concerns that my local store would take months to ship, don't ask why but that's the way it is around here. I wished it was packaged a bit better, it's a scary thought when it arrives and box is close to coming apart, I took a pic just in case of damage but it was in perfect shape as i unpacked it; and it will be too much for most to handle getting inside, so recruit a grandson or Grandaughter. I have a good knowledge of solving problems in manufacturing and so don't get frustrated in assembly just take your time and it will go together just fine. I have CH Failure and it takes me longer to do things so I'd rate this a bit challenging for many older and frail seniors. Would I do it again? Most defiantly! big money saver Also just a side note I wish the company or Amazon would work with seniors to provide paperwork so we could get reimbursed by Medicare, that would help their sales too Hope this helps your decision

Quality Chair but customer support is not that helpful.
We purchased this chair for my late father to use instead of a bed. The chair itself is quite nice and comfortable and the lifting mechanics are quite strong and capable. Assembly was easy as well and everything was easy to put together. The only problems we ran into was this. We accidently got two of the same back "wings" on the chair (two ultimately inconsequential parts that don't have any functional impact on the chair's operations or comfort whatsoever) but when we tried to report that we had two of the same part, Customer Support asked us to consult a parts catalogue which we could not find. As the part was not that important overall, we didn't pursue the replacement part that much. Also, like any Amazon delivered product, the delivery agents just dumped and ran, leaving us to drag the boxed chair into the house ourselves. Assembly wasn't an issue, we expected that, but having some help to at least get it into the house would've been very helpful since each of us have/had health issues that make it difficult to lift heavy objects.

Great purchase
I got this to replace a lift recliner that I got second hand and stopped working. It came on time, was easily put together by my son and husband. It is very comfortable. Wide enough for a plus size person. I am only 5’0” and it fits me well. May be not good for a taller person. I love that the foot and head are separately controlled. I also chose this one because it did not have heat and massage. I got it during Prime Days at a good price. Seems to be very sturdy. I have had it now for 3 months. It was especially nice after I had foot surgery in August.

I love this chair, I like the duel motors because I like to put the feet up and the back of chair not moving. The head rest doesn’t bulge forward like most chair and the depth of the seat is good for my short legs. The colour is great as well, will go with anything. 😊

Assembled as per instructions. Tested foot rest up/down, ok. Tested recline back forward ok. Tested lift function, chair went up up up now will NOT go down. Back still reclines even with it tipped way forward. Checked every connection, every wire, reread directions, nothing helped. the chair is DOA !!! Used all of 2 minutes and is now useless. Help number is in USA and no use in Canada (Asks for Zip code). Amazon provided zero support other than to returning the 142 lbs chair myself for $633.99 shipping. ** Contacted countless Ashley Furniture numbers and discovered they DO NOT honour any Warranty from Amazon.ca (third party) purchases ! All in all a terrible experiance.

My dad needs this chair and it quit working properly. As a result, he ended up stuck on the floor because he couldn't get himself out of the chair without the lift. The power to the lift cuts in and out. Update: we replaced the power controller and that fixed the first problem. Now, however, the lifting mechanism itself has broken -- the metal pipe has broken apart where it is obviously not welded together very well. I attempted to fix it with resin, but was not successful. This is not acceptable for the price of this chair! It is basically useless after just over one year!! AND Amazon opened a ticket for me on this issue a number of weeks back and I have heard nothing since. Poor service.
