Any plastic / silicone taste?

They are plastic but I did not find any noticeable plastic taste. However, if left out in warm area then you can smell the plastic slightly (not so when frozen). The good thing about these is that they keep cubes from taking on the smell of the freezer and tend to have less crystals form on them.

How big are the cubes?

Mine are half moon shapes-not cubes. I did not realize this when I purchased them—not a problem. I just expected cubes.

What is liquid volume for one ice cube? If one cube melts, how much liquid is there/when filling tray, how much liquid does it take to fill one slot?

Measure it with a set of measuring spoons would be my suggestion. 🤔

I have 2. Half of the cubes are always in pieces. What's making the ice shatter?

I thought the same thing, but after a few days dealing with the problem I realized i needed to let them set on the counter for a few minutes for the ice to release from the tray !!! We usually let them set out on the counter for 6/7 minutes and don’t over fill the tray when refreezing !!! Hope this helps 😎
