Amazing machine - Let’s talk about the negative reviews
I had this machine for 6 months and I’m super happy with it. Let me spill the tea. So, a lot of the negatives reviews are semi-true; yes, the machine gives you a warning sign that it’s overheated already after making two cups of coffee. But you fix the problems very fast just by running the machine with water for 5 seconds. Yes, the machine give you a descaling warning after couple of months but you can just switch it off or even simply ignore it (nothing really changes but the color of one of the buttons, that’s all really). I use Brita water so I don’t descale the machine. Otherwise, works perfectly fine. Coffee takes amazing. The machine has a sleek design. Temperature is good, and adjustable. Cappuccino maker works great and it’s easy to clean (you purge it before and after, wipe it with a tissue, done). Never gave me any problems so far really. The only issue I have with it is that it won’t run if the coffee is grinded to a very fine level. And sometimes I get or buy coffee that is very fine. That’s my only isssue with it. But that’s not worth getting a 1,000$ espresso machine.

Great! One cup at a time.
Great product! Takes a minute to get oriented with how to use it and not fill up the cup too high with grounds. If the cup is too full (or the grounds are too fine), the pressure builds up too high and will shut off before it produces any espresso. I usually want more than just one double shot, so I have to take everything apart and refill it to get another cup. It's a small inconvenience and I readily do it to get the amount I want, but I wish there was a more convenient option to produce more without resetting everything. The overall product and size and espresso produced are great. UPDATE 7-MONTHS LATER: Still going strong! I use this machine almost daily, usually running the machine 2-4 times to get the amount of espresso I want. I live in a small apartment so this takes very little time to do in between getting ready in the morning. Still very happy with mg purchase! UPDATE ON 30 AUGUST 2023 AFTER 5.5 YEARS OF USE: I was scrolling through my old reviews and saw this was only 4/5 stars, but I 10/10 recommend this espresso maker, so I updated my rating to 5 stars because this is 100% worth every penny and "inconvenience" I mentioned above which I no longer find inconvenient - it is fast and easy to make however much you want, idk what I was on about before lol. Lazy i guess. You do have to descale it after some use but I've only had to maybe 3 times in 5 years, so it's not a problem. It lets you know when it's required. I bookmarked a YouTube video for reference for when I need to descale in the future. This baby is a work horse and totally worth it!!! zero ragrets

Is the pump made out of balsa wood? It doesn't last.
Update: 05/31/2020 This is a beautiful machine and works great! The only problem is that the pump doesn't last. I would not recommend the extended warranty. Just put the 50 bucks into a new machine, because in 6 months or so you will have to buy a new machine anyway when the second one breaks down. And the replacement is slow so you are stuck having to go to Starbucks until the new machine arrives. After researching these machines, I see that NONE of them have pumps that last unless you buy a $5,000 machine as Starbucks uses. What I do now is to buy two inexpensive Hamilton Beach machines (for half the price) and when one breaks I have a new machine instantly. The Hamilton Beach machine lasted seven months making one espresso per day. That's about par for the course. The Hamilton Beach is comparatively ugly but works just as well. It's too bad these pumps are not user-replaceable like automobile spark plugs! Original post: The pump stopped working before my warranty ran out. I must say, I had no problem with Customer Service. They had me use my phone to give them a live feed from my kitchen while they put me through troubleshooting steps. It took a good number of days to get the new machine, however. I was sent another machine, and I resolved to treat the new one like a baby - with minimal use; i.e., using the double-cup filter only once a day. And, I stopped using the machine to make hot water to fill up my 18 oz. mug, as I like "Americano"; so I heated water in my electric kettle to save wear on the Delonghi. Never-the-less, the new machine quit pumping after 5 months of use. It made normal pumping sounds, but wouldn't push through the coffee. If DeLonghi would beef up the pump, that would be great, as whoever designed this machine did a super job - easy to use and looks exquisite. When the first machine quit, I looked online and bought a Hamilton Beach espresso machine as a backup in case the DeLonghi failed again, and it was less than half the price. How long the Hamilton Beach will last, I don't know, but it did make a great cup of espresso coffee this morning. 12/12/2019 UPDATE: Word of caution: My Hamilton Beach acted as if the pump had failed, just like the Delonghi. I looked online for a more expensive replacement and came across a user who said his expensive machine acted as if the pump had failed - wouldn't push through the coffee. However, this person did an update and said his problem was that the water tank was not fully seated, and that fixed the problem. That fixed my HB machine also. Note this was NOT the case with my Delonghi. The lesson is: NEVER let the water tank run out or get too low! Be sure to properly seat the water tank, every time! I was all set to buy a $500 machine tomorrow morning. This uses' advice saved me $500.

I bought this after moving to Canada from Sydney Australia, and found I couldn't get a decent coffee ANYWHERE (filter/drip isn't real coffee). This machine filled the void in my soul and tummy. Pros: 1. The baskets are pressurized so it's impossible to screw up the shot 2. The steam wand is sort of automatic so you don't need to have steaming technique. Foolproof if you love heaps of foam 3. This delux model has a "hot milk" function if froth isn't your thing. 4. It heats up SUPER fast. I turn it on in the morning and by the time I've grabbed my cup and filled the group head with coffee it's ready to go 5. Great crema 6. It's customisable! I haven't played around with this, but you can adjust the water temperature, and the length of shots 7. It's so easy to use and you get a great coffee at home 8. It came with a sample of the descaler stuff - bonus. Cons: 1. The tamper it comes with sucks a bit, it's plastic and has a scoop at the other end. It doesn't impact the quality of coffee, but would have been nice if it was a real tamper 2. Again, not a deal breaker - but the baskets (for single and double shots) seem to fall out really easily when you try to knock the coffee out. The pros far outweigh the very minor cons. This is an excellent machine for at home.
