If you’re considering a career change or even just wanting to explore other options that might be a good fit for you, read this book and do all the exercises. It gives you a lot to reflect on!

If you're trying to figure out the next step when it comes to vocation, then you need to read this book. I bought a copy close to 25 years ago and it helped me greatly. If you get serious and complete the surveys regarding your talents, education, desires...even the area you want to live in this book is a "must read". I have gifted this book many times to help others figure out...."where do i go from here".

This guidebook changed my perspective on my career. While all of the advice in it seems self-explanatory, the structure and approach makes doing the activities accessible.

This is a great book for younger job seekers, who are unsure about their mission in life. For those retired from full time work but looking for something new to create, only one chapter is useful.

Really great book designed to give you perspective on your career outlook and choices. It helped me narrow down that I want out of a job, how to identify my strengths and weaknesses, and ways to interview and network. It comes with a ton of resources as well. It’s concise and I worked through it in about a month and a half. Highly recommend.

Bolles' encouraging tone made the daunting task of career planning feel manageable and even exciting. This book helped me discover what a fulfilling career path looks like.

This book wasn't available until 1970 - and there have been multiple changes in it in the years since then to adjust to corporal cultural changes and business methodologies. It remains one of the best resources for anyone to determine where their personal interests and workplace openings meet. In the past I've suggested to people they borrow a copy from a library, or bought their own. This year there is a young, somewhat unprepared, graduate seeking advice for their future. Frankly, I doubted there would be a follow through if I suggested the library or purchase. However, I know how helpful the book has been in decades past, and how the updates keep it current, so I bought it, gifted it, and made it a point not to suggest anything right now but finding the answers from the book's instructions on how to find a persons own path. After that's complete, I'd love to mentor this person as I expect they will have a clue to what will bring them an income to meet their expertise. As I said - recommended for decades, and continuing to do so.

I first bought this book about 40 years ago? It helped me commit to paper all the things I liked, and the things I was most proud of. From this book, I discovered things about myself and talents I have that I would not have recognized without the book. I worked hard at this book, if I remember correctly, for a week. It was time well spent, because as a young college grad, I started my resume with two-single spaced typed pages which, I then edited down. In those early years, I was asked by a few potential employers who I hired to write my resume. I don’t think they believed me when I told them I wrote it myself. I used quotes from college professors and former bosses to flesh out my skills. When you don’t have much experience, you need examples like that to prove your worth. If you are the president of a successful company, you may only need one sentence. I cannot recommend the exercises in this book enough. Buy it. Any version of it. It will get you started on a great resume

A must have book for people who need to know their right career choice for a good life

Questa guida è una pietra miliare dell'orientamento professionale, è in inglese, ma si trova anche la versione aggiornata in italiano. Un regalo perfetto per chi si addentra nel mondo del lavoro... E uno strumento ottimo per chi ci lavora come me!

A best seller for decades. I buy copies to give to friends and acquaintances looking for a first job or to switch. The title is stupid and doesn't reflect the brilliance of the contents. Don't judge a book by its title.
